The seats are extremely uncomfortable. I am not a fan of leather seats, and honestly I believe that the seat design is the issue.

Bought the car from a non-Toyota dealer. They didn't want to touch it after it left the lot. The Seats in the new 4Runner I purchased are so painful and uncomfortable. I am 5'5 and 115lbs. I was shown how to adjust the seats lumbar and bottom seat angle.

After a week of use my lower back is in constant pain, and my tailbone is very very sore. I have adjusted the bottom seat setting to flat and the lumbar to none to try to fix the seat settings and fix the problem. After a day of driving it with the new settings the car is still causing pain. This is the first car that I actually feel injured after driving for less than 30 minute periods. I find myself popping ibuprofen just to sleep.

Have been trying to negotiate with dealers about trading in the car, they are all low balling me saying they are aware of the seat problem and nobody will buy these cars. The only break I found was a dealer who wanted my other Scion car and would take both in a trade. I was told that the leather options are more comfortable but will not account for the seat stiffness and that there is nothing they can do to fix the problem.

I feel like a fool for ever signing the financing paperwork only to want to return the car a week later. I was told the seats may break in and be softer after 6 months of use! But I am pretty sure they will break me before that. Stay away!

Update from Jun 4, 2015: Bought and installed leather seats for the vehicle to try and upgrade the seat comfort. Have decided to try and keep the vehicle since I have gotten used to the seats after a month. The back pain has gone away, my tailbone has healed. It sometimes feels sore after a day of driving but for the most part has been fine. It has mostly to do with how the car shocks absorb the road and how that translates into the seats for the driver and passenger. It is noticeable but can be minimized once you are used to the seats.

Update from Sep 7, 2015: The leather was from a company called Katzkin. I got it installed at the Malvern, PA Toyota Dealer, they had an installer take the car for a few days and bring it back to the dealer when it was finished being installed.
