CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good” but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.

Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal” for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

after toyota butchered my car, I called the customer experience center and I was given a case number. The first case manager that I talked with stating my disatisfaction with the way the work was done, I was told that there was nothing that could be done and hung up on. I called back and talked with Jerry and I was told that Toyota was in the process of developing a different pedal which would be shorter and as soon as it was available, I could take my car to a dealer and have the new pedal assembly installed, the problem that bugs me is that no one will tell me when the new assembly will be available, also while my car was at the dealership for the recall work all of my interior lights were turned off, and I can't get all of them to work properly. I refuse to take my car back to the dealer where I bought my car, because of the way that I was talked to by the customer relations manager. I want my car repaired the correct way and all of my interior lights to work properly.

Camry LE V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,100 miles

Unbelievable, I bought this car in June of 2008 the car is a 2009 Camry. The first 566 miles I had to change all four brakes because the got stuck. Then in October I took it to get an oil change at 3100 miles and the gentleman doing the oil change calls me to see if I new that my engine and everything in the engine compartment was rust and very badly eroded as well as the undercarriage and muffler area. I t looked like a car from the sixties or seventies that has not been well kept, I was in shock, I took it to the dealership, and after a month and a half of bullshit from them they had an expert from toyota look at it just to tell me that this was done after we bought the car. I couldn't believe what they were telling me they actually said I must have done this to the car. Anyway to make a long story short I am fighting this in arbitration fist with toyota and a third party, if nothing is done in arbitration then I have a lawyer ready to place a lawsuit.
