When entering my garage, the car automatically accelerated crashing through the back wall of the garage. I applied the brake but they didn't appear to work as the car was accelerating too fast. The car finally came a stop in the backyard against a fence post that was in concrete.

I had picked up a passenger about 1 1/2 hours from my home. I was returning home & noticed that the gas pedal was accelerating even tho I was pressing the brake. I couldn't stop the car& a curvy road was ahead along with a cliff. My option was to go over the cliff or go into possible oncoming traffic to try to stop the vehicle. I opted to try to turn the car into a nearby driveway. Luckily no oncoming traffic was close enough to hit my car as I did this. The driveway was slanted & as I turned into the driveway I smacked into a snow bank which tore my front bumper off. Luckily there were no personal injuries. I reported this to Toyota & my insurance ( at the time of the accident I had heard about a Toyota recall having to do with gas pedal but it had been a while & I hadn't received notification of the recall affecting my vehicle). My personal car insurance covered the $3000 worth of damage to the bumper radiator, grill, etc. Over 4 years later & I still haven't recovered my deductible from Toyota for a known defect in the pedal! had I been notified timely of the recall affecting my vehicle this could have been avoided! instead, I had to cover the cost to repair damage out of my pocket & I had whiplash for a few weeks caused by a known issue Toyota knew of! I'm furious & disappointed that I chose a Toyota!

Went to have brakes replaced since they were squeeking and a few times I put on the brakes and it skipped and was told that all the struts were leaking and calipers were bad. Took for 2nd opinion and was told that was practically impossible and very rare. They looked at car and changed brakes and now in 2 months later my brakes are squeaking just as bad again.

During normal operation of a 2009 Toyota Camry le with 2.4L 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed automatic transmission on the highway traveling approximately 60 mph, the speedometer suddenly dropped to 0 and the ABS and brake lights on the dash board illuminated. The car did not cease normal operation and the brakes appeared to still function and the car was drivable as normal. The speedometer needle did not move and the ABS and brake lights stayed illuminated for several minutes with no noticeable change in braking ability. Then, the speedometer suddenly jumped back to 60 mph and appears to operate properly. At the same time, the ABS and brake lights on the dashboard turned off. There were no noticeable changes in the operation of the car. That the same night, the exact same symptoms returned 2 more times just as they had occurred before with no warning at all. During one episode, the lights illuminated during a complete stop and the speedometer was inactive after leaving the stop. Again, after a few minutes, the speedometer returned to correct operation and the ABS and brake lights on the dash board turned off.

Car used mostly on highways, so brakes not used too much, slow down more using cruise control. 07.25.2011, at 32,600 miles, right rear brakepads were completely gone and start grinding on disc. Three days before that this car was inspected for 30,000 miles and rear brakepads were at 4 mm. Service advisor said they didn't inspect the brakepads three days before because I did not bought the tire rotation, so they just "visually inspect" and fill the paper with numbers just to be filled. 09.17.2011, at 34,400 miles, brakepads replaced again for noise after releasing the brake pedals which had also slightly vibration during releasing. This noise continue all the time after that, even after this brakepad replacement. 10.10.2013, at 61,400 miles, same right rear brakepads were completely gone after visually inspection done during tire rotation and those brake pads were in good shape 2-3 months before. Service advisor tried to sell me many other thing instead to pay attention to my concern about Camry's, and stated rear brakepads life is 30,000 miles, which I believe is not true. 10.27.2013, at 62,000 miles, during the trip on mountain parkway road when I use car brake all the time, same right rear wheel begun to make continuous noise 10-15 second after releasing the brake pedal. The right rear wheel was hot, the other wheel have normal temperature. 11.04.2013, at 62,900 went back to Toyota service and they found the emergency brake (which they stated is combined with rear pedal brake system) cable too tight and adjusted. I believe I paid the brakepads twice and rotors once because they don't care about customers and want you back for more money, for their negligence, and because Toyota car reliability is just a story. I read here more scary issue with rear brakes at high speed and I want people to know about this issue.

While driving the vehicle failed to stop while the brakes were depressed. The failure occurred multiple times on dry, well paved roads. Brakes had to be depressed several times in order for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The failure was not corrected and the brakes continued to fail while attempting to stop the vehicle.

I turned on my Toyota Camry 2009 hybrid in the garage and was immediately met by numerous warning lights, an audible warning buzzer, and a message in the dash message center that read "check vsc." I was going to drive the car to a mechanic but discovered that when I backed out of the garage that there was no braking action. They had completely failed. The car was placed on a computer which provided error code C1256 and C1391. Both codes indicate ABS/vsc/trac malfunctions. I brought the vehicle to my local Toyota dealer and supplied a computer print out of the error codes. The problem was diagnosed as an internal leak in the ABS accumulator module resulting in a loss of hydraulic pressure to the brakes. Cost of replacement with labor was quoted as $3,700. I did some research and discovered numerous complaints by other Toyota owners with identical problem I encountered. I also discovered that Toyota has redesigned the ABS annunciator module. I contacted Toyota corporate headquarters in California who denied any a problem with the part. If they are unaware of the problem, why did they redesign the part? this problem is extremely dangerous as in resulted in total brake failure. I was extremely lucky that my issue manifested itself while the car was parked and not at 70 mph on an interstate highway in heavy traffic. One website set up by someone who experienced this identical problem had thirty five entries in the guest book. Everyone had the same problem.

I have a Toyota Camry 2009. My car went through the recall services, Toyota had for the acceleration problems through one of their dealers. However, on 02/08/2013, I was involved in an accident, wherein I felt this problem myself. On a busy road I may have been driving between 35-40 mph, when all of a sudden, when I applied brakes, my car wouldn't stop but accelerated to maybe double the speed and hit the car in front of me. It appeared as if there are no brakes in the car.the impact was so severe, that I am still nervous and shaken up with the incident. The person driving the car I hit, thought I was speeding. But it definitely was the acceleration problem. This problem has not yet resolved and could lead to many more accidents. I have reported this problem to Toyota dealership and on their suggestion to the Toyota customer experience team. I was extremely lucky, that there were no physical injuries in the accident, but it could have been fatal.

At speeds over above 60 mph the car pulls hard to the left.this was reported to the dealer. I had to replace the rear brakes because the right rear brake froze and destroyed the rotor. I had a full brake inspection and was told that they were ok. One week later the front brake locked up on the passenger and went on fire. The dealer tells me the caliper froze. Now I have to replace all the pads and rotors on the front end. The is a serious and dangerous problem with this model Camry. I have read endless reports of difficulty with controlling this car while braking at highway speeds. This is a braking issue not alignment.
