Lighting-headlights - while driving at night, my headlights (both low and highbeam) will go off altogether a few seconds after I switch to my highbeams. After emergency stopping due to lack of vision, it comes back on after sitting a few moments only to happen again and again. This is a very serious defect that almost caused a head on collision and my family to loose our lives. 2) parking brake - while parked in 4 wheel drive, motor off, on a close to flat surface, my Blazer's emergency brake disengages and my vehicle has to be moved back into its paking place. Electrical system:battery - battery goes dead if I leave my door open for 10 minutes to sweep out the inside. Even after factory battery was replaced for the same reason. Exhauste system: Cvs valve replaced soon after driving off the showroom floor at dealership. Brake:hydrolic anti-lock brake assembly: Unable to stop vehicle while in 4 wheel drive causing a crash into guardrail in order to get stopped. Brakes also fail when trying to come to a stop and running over a bump in the road...causes brakes to make a clicking noise and loose braking hold...have to reapply for vehicles brakes to work.
When exiting ramp driving 20-25 mph and upon depressing the brake pedal in attempts to make a gradual stop, pedal went straight to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance which resulted in vehicle ending up in an intersection on the interstate.

Vehicle experienced recall component (ABS lockup) prior to recall notification, due to failure vehicle was in vehicle collision with guardrail due to loss of control. (99V-193)
Received recall notice #99V193000. Contacted dealership for appointment for ABS repairs. Dealer refused to do recall repairs because they have not seen vehicle for repairs. Contacted district manager who agreed with dealership.
The engine loses power while driving. I almost hit the vehicle in front of me because I could not stop the car. The vacuum to the brakes is lost. The RPM changes rapidly and the engine sputters. I called Chevrolet's customer service center and they had no knowledge of this problem for this make/model. I took the car to the dealership after just bringing in the repair for a recall notice for the ABS brake system transfer case switch and vacuum switch repair and they hooked up a computer to the code reader slot and saw that there was problems with the egr valve. The technician gunned the engine a few to times claiming that he was clearing the valve of a piece of stuck carbon. It went away at the dealership but the problem showed up on the road 5 minutes later. They claim that they have seen this problem in numerous S10 Chevrolet Blazer and they recommend replacing the part. I claim that this is a danger to all 1995 S10 Blazer owners and the part should be re-designed to prevent this from occurring if they have so many issues with it. The part by the way cost around $300~400 in the chicagoland area.
My ABS system failed to operate any longer at 42,000 miles. I brought it to the dealer and they told me the warranty was up and that I needed a new ABS system at a cost of 1,200 dollars. That's crazy, I can't afford that. So I drive around now without ABS system hoping that I don't have to make that fatal stop between life or death and my family.
Recall # 99I006000 GMC/ABS; even though truck was serviced under recall campaign, owner continues to experience problems when stopping. The brakes fail when driving over rough surface, especially during wet weather.
Vehicle was taken to the dealer to remedy manufacturer's recall 9332. ABS sensor light was on prior to the vehicle being taken in. Dealer had advised consumer that recall was fixed, but the sensor light remained on.
Brake linings had to be replaced at 30,000 miles and just about every 30,000 miles after that. The rear end went out at about 72,000 miles and had to be replaced at a cost of about $1800. We were on a trip from Kentucky to Alabama on June 23,2000, and the power brake booster went out. We were forced to travel with brakes that sounded like there was a horrible air leak every time you applied them, and the pedal went to the floor. The ABS light had come on in June, 1999, but we had recently paid $1800 for replacement of the rear end, and were told that our regular brakes would do fine, so we waited. When we heard that a recall had been called on that ABS system we called the dealer numerous times, but they always said that they hadn't received any information from GM about it yet. We finally got a recall notice in the mail about 2 weeks ago, almost a year after it was announced. When the rear end went out, we had been hearing a strange rumbling noise that got progressively louder. We took the car to severral local mechanics, but they couldn't find anything wrong. After a few weeks we took it to the dealer and they had to replace the whole rear end. Now it is beginning to make the same sound, and they will check that tomorrow. They took my car today to check the brakes and said that the power brake booster was bad and the master cylinder was bad. That alone will cost over $700. They said that the whole ABS module was bad, and if we want that fixed it will be about $1000 dollars more. If they decide that the rear end is bad again, that will add another $1800 dollars again, I guess. This vehicle has been driven mainly by me and my husband (51 & 52 yrs old)-- around town and on the highway to visit our kids and pick up grandkids. It has not been misused, and has had all maintenance work done.

Recall 99V193000/ABS brakes. Parts that are needed to perform recall repairs are not available. Consumer has contacted two dealers about repairs. GM says there is a national parts shortage.
