99V193000/ABS brakes: Dealer informed consumer that if they inspected the vehicle for factory recall problem and find nothing wrong owner would have to pay the inspection fee.
Have complained of brake problems the life of the car, they have always taken to long to stop or had no brakes for a few seconds before stoping. Returned to dealer many time only to be told the were fine. Had them replaced Oct 99. Discovered screw in drum, floating around as I had heard noise, while having new tiresput on rear. Was towed to dealer and left car for 2 days fixed by dealer again, only to have no brakes 1 month later. Nearly hitting another car on a road trip 3 hrs from home.
While driving consumer would step on the brake pedal to stop, but vehicle won't stop. This could happen without a warning. Brakes skid on wet pavement. Extended stopping distance. Took vehicle to dealer, found that booster was leaking internally. Replaced part, but problem continues.
ABS brakes are not operable, they lock up on gravel. Consumer was traveling about 35mph and was approaching a stop sign, applied brakes and pedal went all the way down to the floor. Vehicle went into an intersection and hit another vehicle. Vehicle was totaled.

Was driving vehicle into carport & had applied brakes, brakes locked up at the last minute & vehicle almost hit the building. Taking vehicle to dealership to have mechanic look at it.

22 year old son was driving 1995 Blazer to odu university for morning class on interstate, traffic was slowing down, son took foot off gas, traffic started to stop, applied brakes and ABS braking system did not respond (Blazer did not stop, son said Blazer felt like it was on ice ), causing a 4 car accident, contacted Chevrolet to respond to NHTSA recall on braking issue, Chevrolet will not make commitment but will send someone to look at Blazer, as this problem has caused my son to receive a ticket from the va state police for reckless driving and failure to maintain proper control"???", it is of extreme importance that we find out what went wrong with this braking system before my son will have to go to court 10-12-99, and how many more will experience this before NHTSA and Chevrolet reports this information to everyone involved!!!!.as this is causing considerable grief, and inconvenience ! please respond asap, as of this date Blazer is at Chevrolet dealer and can not be repaired until it is inspected by a Chevrolet rep. Thank you, N.T. guess sr.
When brakes are applied vehicle experiences extended stopping distance, and the brake pedal would sink to the floor. Dealer/manufacturer were not contracted at this time.
After making a left hand turn and proceeding approximately 60 feet, vehicle lost control on a black ice covered area of street., vehicle then departed ice traveling over a curb, (braking began prior to going over curb), then continued over a snow covered parkway, then over a shoveled sidewalk, and then striking the entrance to a building approx 40 feet away, standing on the brake pedal would not engage the brakes, on December 1999 a letter was recieved from Chevrolet describing the condition which was identified by the NHTSA, there is no doubt in my mind that this was the cause of my vehicles failure to stop, the braking failed completely under these conditions
Vehicle would not stop at major highway intersection. While I was trying to stop, the vehicle proceeded thru two (2) South bound traffic lanes, then across a paved divider (about equivalent to two highway lanes), then across another two (2)traffic lanes and onto the grassy shoulder of the northbound lanes where the vehicle rolled over one time and came to rest on it's roof. The vehicle behaved as if it was not slowing down at all. The roadway was dry but had some gravel and sand spill on it. Thank god for seat belts! this vehicle had a brake problem at 756 miles (ABS light would come on while driving) dealer was notified. The vehicle had a total brake failure at 2933 miles. Since veh could not be driven safely dealer had to send truck & tow vehicle 30 miles to shop where ABS valve assy needed repair/replacement. Another brake problem (leaking fluid at top of ABS module) was reported to dealer and repaired at 7077 miles. We have all documentation papers for these instances in the event you would like to examine these repair orders.
Transmission will slip out of gear causing engine to freely rev with no acceleration. Taken to 3 dealers and 1 independent shop with no one able to determine what is wrong. Vehicle is only able to hold 2nd gear up to 30 mph before it slips out, causing the speedometer to drop to 10 and the ABS light to activate
