Approaching an intersection, applied brakes, felt a little pressure, then pedal went to the floor. This happened about three months ago, and I was aware that GM was also aware, but when I talked to the dealer, he said that he could do no work unless there was a recall notice, even though this was a safety problem. I find it hard to believe that we would have to wait for a piece of paper even though they already knew someone could be hurt. We were lucky, but I'm not waiting.
Ongoing / intermittent problem with ABS system; whenever brake pedal is applied a grabbing / grinding noise would appear, and pedal would go to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance before coming to a stop. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that no recall on ABS. Can NHTSA share some light on this matter; your web site shows a possible recall, but dealer / manufacturer are both denying a recall. Recall 99V-193000.
There seems to be an unreasonable amount of time passed regarding this problem that is already under recall. Cto this date has not made any contact, and this vehicle needs immediate attention under the recall.
Consumer was driving on interstate and there was vehicle in front. He couldn't stop. When he applied brakes, the pedal went all the way down to the floor, and ran into the back of the truck that was in front of hm. There were no injuries, and the dual airbags didn't deploy.
While driving at 30-35mph an emergency stop was necessary. When the brakes were applied pedal was hard and the brakes would not respond, a crash occurred. Dealer has been contacted.
Ongoing problem with ABS system; whenever brakes are applied vehicle experienced extended stopping distance and excessive wear in brake pads. Replaced pads every 20,000 miles during normal wear.
The first time consumer was driving the vehicle at approximately 15-20mph & started to apply the brakes to slow dow, vehicle failed to stop. Rearended another vehicle. Air bag failed to deploy. The 2nd time was slowing for red light & hit bump in road. The brakes failed to catch & vehicle failed to stop. The 3rd time was going over tracks & hit tie rods & vehicle did not stop when brakes were applied. Had not taken to dealer.
While driving and trying to apply the brakes, brakes did not stop vehicle, causing extended stopping distances.this happens intermittently.there are recalls 99V1006000 and 99V193000. But this vehicle was not included due to VIN.
Tried to apply brakes. Brake pedal would not move, by applying extream force the pedal finally moved, car did not slow down - no braking action at all!!!! finally the pedal released and the car was stopped. Strong smell of electrical type overheating evident under hood. This problem occured 2 times before the car could be taken off the road. I have never had any car's brakes fail in this manner.
Brakes do not work-the other day consumer attempted to apply brakes while approaching a stop sign and brake pedalwent to the floor, and he went straight through the stop sign. Then, he applied his brakes and the automobile stopped.
Under braking, almost full pedal travel is necessary to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal feels very "mussy" and stopping distance is extended significantly. On several occasions, accidents have been barely avoided. We contacted Chevrolet and were that no recall is currently in effect although there exists a NHTSA campaign id number 99V193000 which describes this problem. We want this issue solved before a serious accident occurs. Currently we avoid using this vehicle as much as possible.
