CarComplaints.com Notes: What’s that smell – it’s a tad sweet with a tinge of chemical toxicity? If you own a 2011 Cruze it’s probably a coolant leak. It’s a widespread and notorious problem for the car and is the subject of a class-action lawsuit filed in the state of New York. And that’s not the only problem 2011 owners face…

Many say the 2011 model year suffers from a throttle lag that is probably due to a fauly electronic throttle control. The problem is signifigant enough that some owners say they are too scared to drive their cars. Those that do get behind the wheel often say their transmission isn’t shifting properly and problems start occuring as early as 15,000 miles.

All of this leads us to say you’re probably better off without this car’s headaches (they’re probably chemically-induced anyway).

Heated driver's side seat doesn't work. Press the button, it stays on for one minute then shuts off. Passenger side heated seat works great, too bad I'm the driver.

The heated seat on the drivers side basically burned a hole in my seat. Took me a while to figure out what happened but this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

Cruze 2LT

I believe the most common explanation from other people with this issues is that there is a short in the seat heater, which causes either the fuse to blow or the system to shut itself off after a few seconds. Cost is something like $600, which I'm not willing to pay so I just don't use the heated seat. This is a VERY COMMON ISSUE, so should be fixed under recall. But of course isn't.

Cruze LT 1.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission

How sad that we buy an American automobile only to have the driver's heated seat to malfunction when rarely used on our 2011 Chevy Cruze. The vehicle only has a little over 50,000 miles. Certainly explains why there are so many foreign cars on our highways. Get it right, GM. We invented the automobile; we should led the world with the most dependable vehicles.

Passenger heated seat quit working. Tried to turn on and it shuts off in a couple of seconds. With -17 degree temperatures we finally tried to put these seats to use. Mind you this seat is RARELY EVER USED!!. I took the car to Charles Chevrolet in Garrettsville Ohio and they said bottom seat element was shorted out. So I agreed to let them order parts and install the element. Cost for the seat element and installation was $300.00. They called me and said they have good news and bad news. The bad news is the seat element worked but the back element is bad. They said it would be another $260.00 for that element with installation. I have $560.00 in a heated seat that is 3 years old. This car is plain junk.

I have two Hondas. Believe me when I say this, there is a definite quality difference between Chevy and Honda. I was hell bent to get a new Chevy Corvette. After this ordeal on the Cruze I will never buy Chevy again. In addition to this the car trunk button would not work, the climate control temperature would not adjust and along with the faulty seat. The dealership also had to change the rear bypass coolant neck. I am trading this in for a Honda Civic.
