CarComplaints.com Notes: What’s that smell – it’s a tad sweet with a tinge of chemical toxicity? If you own a 2011 Cruze it’s probably a coolant leak. It’s a widespread and notorious problem for the car and is the subject of a class-action lawsuit filed in the state of New York. And that’s not the only problem 2011 owners face…
Many say the 2011 model year suffers from a throttle lag that is probably due to a fauly electronic throttle control. The problem is signifigant enough that some owners say they are too scared to drive their cars. Those that do get behind the wheel often say their transmission isn’t shifting properly and problems start occuring as early as 15,000 miles.
All of this leads us to say you’re probably better off without this car’s headaches (they’re probably chemically-induced anyway).

i would like to know if it can be recalled and fixed (1 reports)
I just got this car in April of this year from Fink's Used Auto Sales in South Zanesville, Ohio. It was basically pushed on me from the salesman, who told me it would be a good car for me. I am 68, single, no kids, no one to really go to bat for me and help me with anything, so I trusted him. Right off the bat, the passenger window stopped working, so they did fix it, I didn't have the car for a week. Then, I took it for an oil change. The guy put the hood up, and found the oil cap was sitting on the engine, and oil was everywhere, even dripping from the opening inside the hood. So, I complained, they shrugged it off as my problem. Then, the engine shut down, would not start. Was not the battery, but my neighbor came and put his diagnostic on it, and it showed all sensors down. I complained again, and finally, Fink's took it and had it another week, and proclaimed it fixed.
It runs, but from the beginning, I have felt the jerkiness in shifting, and when I am driving, if I let up on the gas, the car immediately almost slows to a stop. It is very uncomfortable, and I know I would not be comfortable driving it on the highway or out of town. I bought this car "as is" and I have been told I am not to come back with any other issues.
