It has taken me a long time to find this video on youtube. I had gone with this problem for over a year before I found the solution. There is also a button behind the rubber guard that is on the steering column directly behind the ignition. It is more of a solenoid rather than a button. When the wire is detached in the shifter wiring then the button with be left open causing the key to think the car isn't in park. The video attached solves 2 seperate issues yet it is the solution for this problem.
