CarComplaints.com Notes: Top complaints for the 2006 Chevy Impala include how the transmission slips, clunks and fails. Or how the power steering knocks and squeals. In other words, this car is a noisy bucket of eventual failure points.
I've found that many of these cars white in color experience the same problems. The paint seems to be cheap and of bad quality. It first starts to chip in all sorts of places but the most noticeable spot is the roof over the front glass. It cracks and looks like it peels then eventually tears off and then a rust spot starts to occur. It is very ugly and there are many white Impala's experiencing the same problem. I think there was bad paint used on these vehicles.
A minor fender bender caused the hood to start rusting over an extended period of time. I finally had the hood sanded and repainted to the factory standard with my local mechanic. The fix cost me $264.
