This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Drivers door states door ajar when door is closed. The locks will not work on any of the doors when this occurs. Any one can jump in the car when stopped. If kids are in the back seat, they are able to open the doors when the car is in motion. When leaving the car we cannot lock the vehicle, belongings and pets can be stolen. Almost $500 to fix this common saftey issue.
The driver side door ajar light will not go out. At first after closing the door several times the light would go out, now the door ajar light stays on.
Door ajar sensor won't turn off after door is closed. Repeated slamming of door doesn't release door ajar sensor. Door ajar will come on during operation of vehicle. Interior light remain on even when door is closed.
Car door is shut and alerts that driver door is open when not moving and driving down the road. Dome lights won't go off, can't lock door with key pad on door. Alarm continues to go off that door is ajar when it's not while driving down the road. It only happened occasionaly in may, now today 7/17/17 it will not go off, shows door is ajar all time!
The door ajar light keeps saying the door in my 2013 Ford Edge (with less than 35,000 miles) is open when in fact it is closed. It will pop on while I am driving, sounding an alert and turning on the interior lights. (which is enough to scare the heck out of you) other times, when I get in or out of the door it will just stay on. This leaves the interior lights on draining the battery to dead.so as of lately, I have been getting in and out through the passenger side door.
The engine will not start when the temperature outside is high (105+ degrees). During the heat of the day, engine will not start (no clicking, no sounds, nothing). Radio comes on, air comes on, I am able to change gears, roll down windows, etc. There are no issues in the morning or evening when the day is cooler. The check engine light does come on only when I am having the issue. Once car eventually starts, the check engine light goes off.
When you shift into drive the door adjar light comes on, the chime and message to shift to park and the inability to lock the doors. It causes a safety problem for the driver. Very expensive to repair.
The left rear door ajar notification light on the dash will not go off, even though the door is shut. Which means the dome light stays on and the doors will not lock. This happened when the door was opened, but no matter how many times, or how much force is used to close the door, the notification won't go away, and the doors won't lock while in motion.
The door ajar warning will not go off with the door closed. It will do it after driving for a few miles and when first started. I can no longer lock my car at night because the alarm will go off due to this issue and wake everyone up. I have been reading many complaints about this issue, and for as much as these cars cost, I can't believe Ford has not issued a recall to fix it. This is a safety hazard due to me not being able to lock my doors at night, and because while driving, the doors unlock. Please expedite this investigation for myself and the thousands of others this has affected.
Last year I brought my Edge in for door ajar light to a Ford dealer. They fixed it and it cost $225. This was July 14 2016. It has started to do the same thing less then a year. This can be a safety issue because if you just press the ok and the light goes out the doors will not lock. And if you have children in the back they can still open the door.. Ford should be responsible to have this fix not the consumer.
Shift to park warning on the dash comes on when the car is in park. This causes the battery to run down. I was told the problem is in the shift assembly.car has 19,000 miles.
Driver door ajar light stays on long after car is parked or driving along with inter lights stay on tire pressure sensor stays low pressure random times cold or hot weather
Door ajar warning light and alarm comes on even when door is securely closed. No matter how many times the door is closed or how hard it is slammed, the warning continues. Also, the dome light will not go off, and the doors will not lock while the warning is on. The noise is driving me nuts! had this same problem when the car was 1 year old and now it is back again. 40,000 miles so no warranty. Obviously they do not have a permanent fix for this recurring problem. The door ajar warning comes on as soon as I start the car, and continues when the car is in motion. Again - the door is securely closed!!!
The door ajar light is always on and the interior light stay and which causes the battery to die. I have to open and close the door numerous times in order to get the interior lights off. Sometimes the door won't even catch and has flown open while driving with my 8 year old child in the vehicle
The left door ajar sensor light stays on after all doors are closed securely. The doors do not automatically lock after starting to drive. The dome light stays on for a long time. The warning signal beeps every time we step on the brake and is very annoying.
