CarComplaints.com Notes: There was plenty of hope that Ford would fix their “door ajar” warning light issue for the 2014 model year. This widespread problem has caused the previous 3 model years to stay on top of defect trend lists.

So far, the 2014 Edge doesn't share the poor reputation of prior model years.

I had my oil changed last year upon seeing some suspicious activity during this oil change at Walmart, they were dishonest and lied to my face about my skid plate missing bolts underneath. I told them there's is no way my mobile mechanic put all four back on last night after it fell off while driving. So they lied to me. I filled a complaint. My car started driving weird. Then about two weeks later my car while in park, out of no where wouldn't reverse the steering wheel way locked it hard to turn. And sounded like a broken garbage disposal. It wasn't drivable.i have a2014 Ford edge sel. I ended up having it towed to Ford dealership in Tustin and I remembered that I had just saw online fright before the oil change that there was recalls three online pee my vin in a search. I dropped the keys off at Ford and put the the recall numbers on the envelope going they could look at it. I was told over the phone what the issue was she is be about $1900 to replace. I told him there's no way it is that expensive. The party was about $200 and the job should only take about 1-2 hours of even that.I told him I was homeless sleeping out of my car with my daughter 5, at the time what are my options. I told him I had mechanical breakdown coverage he called me back saying the claim for coverage was denied when I had talked to them they were waiting for the dealership to call over with necessary repairs information. So I already knew he was being deceptive she and dishonest. I asked him to email me a list of itemized by repairs that needed to be done to the office so i could see what i could afford. Hey emailed me a blank email no list of repairs. I emailed him back telling him there's was no estimate and if he could resend it. No response. ong story longer dealership refused service to my vehicle. my harmonic balancer remains an issue after I replaced it myself and local shop did the timing. Powersteering pump has air in it. Steering wheel locks when driving. Loud sounds.

My car is in need of a new water pump. This is a known repair needed in Ford V6 3.5 & 3.7-liter engines 2012-19 Explorer, Taurus, Edge & more. The water pump is placed in the engine so that a simple 1 hr. repair takes 10-12 hrs of labor costing customers thousands of dollars. There is no reason for this to not be on the recall list!!!!! This is confirmed by Ford dealers. There is no warning that comes up until the part has already failed, also causing other parts of the engine to be repaired.

Pulled out of a parking lot onto a busy street locally, car lost power and the orange wrench light came on. Would not go, all the car did was jerk and sputter. Engine did not shut off but would only coast/roll into the middle lane and managed to coast/roll into another business parking lot next door to where I pulled out from and once parked, I turned ignition off and back on. Wrench light went out and car started. No codes were apparently shown when hooked up to the machine at the car lot the next day (wrench light was still off) this is very scary and very dangerous whatever it is, it needs investigated and fixed so us Ford edge drivers can feel safe when driving. Also 1 week before this my check engine light came on, same code 3 times came up for eval, emissions ECT... Now no codes are showing since the wrench light came on Sunday and my car stopped moving.

Fuel pump fails without warning causing vehicle to stall in intersection of busy roadway. With some research and assistance from my local Ford dealership, we found a recall in the past for this exact issue effecting my year make and model. Not sure why I was not made aware of this until I almost caused an accident. I want this on record that I reported the issue. Recall # 14S30

'when this condition occurs, the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) or wrench light will illuminate and the vehicle may enter a limited limp home mode, ' federal officials said. 'in this mode, engine power and vehicle speed are reduced, while full function of the power steering, power braking, lighting, and climate control systems are maintained.

I drove my 2014 Ford Edge up about two blocks to a busy street, and attempted to make a left turn when it was clear / safe. Midway across a 5 lane street, my car stalled. As much as I pushed the gas pedal, nothing happened. The wrench symbol appeared on the dash, and the car was shaking. I had my two babies in the car with me, and we're lucky we weren't T-boned by traffic coming at us from both directions. I was somehow able to coast across the intersection in time to pull over safely. Once I was stopped the car for about 10 minutes to call road side assistance, I started the engine again, and everything seemed normal. I tried to drive it further, but after about 20 miles, it stalled again the same way. Again, I pulled over and turned it off, and it seemed to work when I turned it back on. Once it stalled for a third time, I had to pull over and have it towed. Upon further research, this seems to be a problem other drivers are facing with this make and model, and it is a very dangerous safety issue. The vehicle gave no warning that something was wrong (like an indicator light in advance or even a strange noise) before it stalled, and I have received no communication from Ford about this safety issue of which Ford seems to be aware.

Vehicle lost engine power in traffic on a city street with speed limit of 35 mph. I coasted to a stop as I could not accelerate. I had to pull to side of road and turn off the engine and restart it. I was only able to go about 1 block before it happened again. Same issue. Loss of engine power - no acceleration. This issue happened on more time before I could get to a nearby parking lot. I let the vehicle sit for about 5 hours. I tied to drive it again and the same thing (loss of acceleration, had to shut of engine and restart) happened 3 more times in a 4 block drive.

I had been driving for about 40 minutes around 35 miles per hr, on a street. I slowed down to change lanes to enter the freeway ramp.then while the vehicle was in motion, it would began to slow down and lose power. The wrench icon appeared, but was able to steer, around a few feet, into a service station. The vehicle came to a complete stop. I kept the engine running but there was no acceleration. When pressing the accelerator there was no activity. I placed the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition. Maybe one minute later, I restarted the engine. The vehicle started right up. The accelerator worked properly. Instead of entering the freeway I took another route home, which was about 15 miles away. I had the vehicle taken to a Ford dealership the next day which was 4/11/2019. After inspecting it, Ford stated they could not identify any problems. I have around 76,000 miles on the vehicle. I am very much afraid to drive this vehicle, because of the safety danger that it pose. I am returning it back to Ford for further inspection. I did not receive any warning before the vehicle loss acceleration. I would not have been able to avoid a crash, if there would have been the usual traffic or if I would have entered the freeway as planned.

I bought the vehicle new, and have slightly over 42,000 miles on it. In November 2018, when driving on a 2 lane road in the city, the vehicle suddenly lost all acceleration and the wrench light on the dashboard came on. I had to quickly maneuver to the side of the road as the vehicle lost speed and came to a stop. Pushing down on the accelerator would not do anything. I had to have the car towed to a dealer, where they diagnosed that the throttle body was binding due to carbon build-up. The dealer replaced the throttle body and cleaned the fuel injection system and fuel metering system. As the vehicle was no longer under warranty, I had to pay over $650 for the repairs.

On Saturday Oct. 6 at approx. 9 P.M. with mild weather/temp. At 70 mph on left lane of highway in a construction zone with no emergency shoulder, wrench symbol appeared and it would not keep up to speed. Because of the sudden slow down, we were almost hit several times trying to get to the right. The speed dropped suddenly. Limped it along to what we "thought was a safe exit" and called state police. While waiting I kept the car on with hazard lights. Then two vehicles appeared tried to block us in and we believe rob us. I was able to hit the gas and get 1/4 mile before it did it again. Would not move, chugged and cut off. The suspicious people took off but it was terrifying to be so vulnerable and not be able to get away. It was towed by state police to closest dealer of the auto group we purchased from as a certified pre-owned vehicle. After reading online that this has happened to many, many people and how dangerous it is, I wanted to report it. This issue is going to kill people. It is the throttle body. The forums are loaded with people that faced this sudden dangerous situation.

Decatur blvd, las vegas, nv 89107), but was not diagnosed. Previously, the vehicle experienced a power steering fluid leak and, when turning the steering wheel in either direction, a whining noise was present. The power steering pressure hose was replaced, but the whining noise continued. Also, while operating the vehicle, a fuel odor was present inside the cabin. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 23,333.

While driving on town street the car started slowing down and the wrench light came on and the car felt like it it just lost all power - not electrical but it slowed down to a crawl. I was able to pull the car over to the side of the road, shut off the wrench and shut off the car. I let it sit for a minute then turned it on and it was fine. I took it to the dealership today 10/20 and they identified that it was the throttle body. This was a very unsafe event and my car has only 34,614 miles on it. It could have caused a serious accident if I hadn't pulled the car over as it just stopped in the middle of this very busy street.
