While driving the car accellerated out of control. My brakes & other componants broke in my attempts to stop. Luckily I did not crash, flip or run someone over as it took several miles to stop. I was towed to freedom Ford in beacon, NY where they found that the Ford air filter broke and wedged the accelerator linkage causing the car to go out of control. I incurred brake damage, towing, travel expenses, and subsequent throddle repairs done at pleasantville Ford in pleasantville, NY.
When disengaging cruise control vehicle throttles down and accelerates. Consumer has to depress brakes or shut off cruise control. Vehicle has an aggressive acceleration. This happens intermittently. Contacted dealer, and dealer urged consumer to recreate problem for them to check it out.
Consumer was traveling about 35mph on road to pass another vehicle., and without prior warning, vehicle acellerated about 100mph. Had foot on brakes, but vehicle was still running. Consumer turned vehicle off. Dealership was aware of problem.
Accelerator suddenly and uncontrollably causes vehicle to go from a stopped condition, foot on brake, cruise control off. Extreme braking effort avoids collision. Problem presented to Ford service at dealer, diagnostic tests done and no repair provided. Ford service denied knowledge of any similar problems of this type and offered no recall repairs.

Vehicle stalled at 25 mph, also, when going over a small bump rpms went up to 4000-5000. Mechanic thought vehicle stalling was an electrical problem, not taken to dealer yet.
While traveling approximately 50 mph throttle stuck in an open position preventing the driver from being able to slow vehicle down immediately. There was no crash and no injuries. Dealership has previously performed recall 00V422000 on this vehicle. Ak this is the third throttle body installed on vehicle, consumer states the brakes did stop the vehicle.
After coming to a complete stop consumer applies accelerator and vehicle hesitates, has very little power. Consumer has to almost floor it to get vehicle to move. RPM's will be high, but speed is very slow. This happens 4-5 times a week. Check engine light is on intermittently. Took vehicle to dealer 8-9 times in last year and a half, cant' find cause. Dealer took motor apart, found nothing. Please provide additional comments.
Consumer received recall notification (00V422000), consumer purchased vehicle from a private owner which was a salvage title and manufacturer is refusing to honor recall as well as install tether kit free of charge as they previously stated.
Is this legal to sell a vehicle new or used with serious safety recalls, they have jeopordized my safety in this vehicle. Sudden engine acceleration and tachometer re-line at passing gear. Shifting into low gear prior to 1800rpms. Engine noise at start up. Overheating causing damage to the transmission, I.e. torque converter failure. Idles at 1200.rpms and fluctuates. What ethics do these dealer possess and do they not safety inspect them prior to sales, they let me drive off the lot. This vehicle is currently in service for the failed parts after purchasing it on novemeber 1,2000. I have Firestone at tires yet to be inspected.
Periodically while driving consumer would let accelerator pedal go and then began to press it, vehicle would not pick up speed. Vehicle began to stall, causing consumer to pull over. In order for vehicle to start and pick up speed, consumer would turn off engine and restart. Dealer was not able to replicate defect and was not able to provide remedy.
Consumer was backing up and accelerator stuck, applied more pressure to pedal, and vehicle hit fire hydrant. Bumper needed to be replaced. Recently, consumer received recall 00V422.
Vehicle is showing same symptoms as mentioned in recall 00V422000 regarding 4.0 L engines. Throttle is sticking and consumer has to force pedal to move. This is a continuous event that seems worse after cruise control has been used.
While stopped at a stop light the vehicles engine began to race and move forward although consumer foot was depressing the brake, consumer touched the other vehicle and the truck started pushing it forward, consumer had to turn off vehicle to stop the movement. Nlm
When turning cruise control off vehicle started to acclerate up to 90-100mph. Only way to slow down is to put vehicle out of gear. Contacted dealer, and dealer said that they could not do anything because they did not know what the problem was. The vehicle was idling very high.
Vehicle accelerated suddenly and unexpectedly while speed control was activated. Driver had to shut vehicle off to stop. Dealer has been notified. There is a recall (00V422) regarding the problem the vehicle is experiencing.
