08-11-00 02:00 pm dive called-she will have her husband stopped by on Monday to pu all info on her 98 Explorer (she advised that accident ocurred because the L.frt tire blew. She wants all info on her vehicle because of the Firestone tire recall. (claim# 20-5174-819)
Vehicle was parked when cracks were noticed near the tread & sidewalls on all four tires. Contacted Ford & Firestone & both indicated not recall & nothing will be done to replaced the tires. Original equipment on vehicle. Fire stone Wilderness AT P235/75R15 dot code vnhl.
Driving 35mph & heard on news about Firestone tires. Pulled over & checked tires. Noticed tires had cracks/splits around the tires near the tread which was meeting the sidewall. Took vehicle to Firestone retailer & informed it was bad but not on recall & was not replacing. The right front tire looked the same as the right front. Firestone wilderness P235/75R15 with 24,000 miles.
PE00 020; consumer was traveling about 50mph on highway and heard a noise. He was able to pull to the shoulders. Right rear tire tread separated, and there were no injuries. Bridgestone/Firestone wilderness, #ATX P23575R15, dot vnhl.
Took vehicle to tire retailer to check tires & owner noticed cracks in tread & pointed it out to mechanic. Mechanic checked the other tires & the spare. Would replace the spare tire due to the nature of the cracks in it. Was not replacing the other tires. Firestone P255/70R16 dot code vn with 37,000 miles on it.

All 4 Firestone Wilderness AT tires P235/75R15 dot W2hl experienced hairline cracks along the treadline, consumer replaced tires and is requesting reimbursement.
PE00020, original equipment on a 1998, Ford, Explorer, tire size 15 inch. While driving 45 mph front passenger's tire tread came off, causing loss of vehicle control.
