CarComplaints.com Notes: Even though the first model year of a major redesign should typically be avoided, Ford did a good job & the 2008 Ford Focus doesn't appear to have any major defects.

That said, the following model years of this 2nd generation Focus (2009-2011) do appear to be slightly better.

Own 2008 Ford Fusion SEL. Passenger airbag dash came loose from airbag. Can see inside dash. Worried airbag is going to either deploy when it shouldn't or not deploy when it should.

Contacted Ford Customer Services. They deny any responsibility unless it is covered under warranty or has been a recall. This problem only seems to occur when the warranty wears out. In fact, they denied any knowledge of the problem at all even though several other posters indicated they contacted Ford Customer Service. I asked about a recall and they claim they only issue a recall in accordance with NTSB safety standards. They won't stand behind the defect despite the number of complaints received. I noticed that one customer was able to get their dealership to admitted that Ford used defective glue and it is this glue that is causing the problem.

Don't want to invest in a new dash. Has anyone found a resolution to this problem that doesn't impact the airbag and is cheaper than replacing the dash?
