CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford changed a lot of things for its 3rd generation, just none of them were a good idea.

The transmission tends to hesitate and jerk when accelerating. The new electronically-driven power steering can fail suddenly and without warning. Even Ford's SYNC can be a headache. Actually, scratch that last one — it's always been a headache.

The contact used a rope to keep the door closed while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the door lock assembly was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred three and half weeks later with the rear driver's side door latch. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 16V643000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages) and 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 77,671.

I took my Ford Focus 2013 into the Ford dealership on June 2020. There was a recall for the door latches 20S30 code. The dealership said they took care of it. I just checked online and it's hasn't been fixed. It's been almost a year and we've been driving it with a newborn baby not knowing that they haven't fixed the recall.

I did a complaint before on my door latch driver side malfunctioned and won't stay closed. I am doing another complaint because now the passenger door latch has malfunctioned. This vehicle is a 2013 and the door latches should not be malfunction this way. I had to pay out of my pocket to repair the first one now the second is damaged. I need the dealership to fix this problem as nobody contacted me to fix my problem the first time. At this point I am against Ford now and will not buy or recommend anyone I come I contact with to buy the Ford brand ever again. My name is lee [xxx] my phone number is [xxx] my email is [xxx] I own a 2013 Ford Focus and had many unsafe problems occur. Two door latches malfunction door will not stay closed. Fuel tank replaced cause of the capless system creating vacuum sucktion and damaging engine. When is enough enough with this vehicle. Worst investment I have made in my life.
