CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2015 Ford Focus & its "Powershift" transmission has a defect trend where the car shudders when accelerating, especially when starting uphill.
Most owners have reported their Ford Focus remains driveable while the vehicle is still at low mileage, but the shuddering is annoying & unpleasant & may reduce the resale value of the vehicle.
However, owners of higher-mileage vehicles from earlier 3rd generation Focus model years report transmission failure & a host of other major & expensive transmission-related problems. Potential buyers beware.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Focus. While the vehicle was stationary, the rear middle seat belt would not latch when prompted. In addition, the power steering failed on more than occasion. Oxmoor Ford in louisville, Kentucky was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
I have contacted you on this matter before and I have just talked to Ford regarding the seatbelt issue and was told that they cant make an independent dealer stand by a warranty I believe seatbelts are a safety issue my seatbelt doesn't retract it has locked on me after I have gotten it back and I couldn't put it on for almost a block when it finally released so I could put it on, it also doesn't lock when I jerk it forward while driving. My worry is if we were to get in an accident and my seatbelt doesn't lock I would still hit the windshield to me that is a safety concern and Ford should stand by their lifetime safety warranty. I am the passenger and the seatbelt on the driver side is just starting to act up on occasion
Takata recall. When driving computer or transmission does not change gears on time. Sometimes stays in first gear past 20mph. Problem when driving on freeway and need to speed up. Takata recall. Also seatbelts will not release sometimes when I need to get out of car. It will partially unlock but seatbelt will still be locked in place. I must push seatbelt back in place to totally lock it again the press red button to release. Very dangerous
