CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Honda Accord suffers from transmission failure. It's not a huge widesperad problem like in prior years, but definitely still something to consider.
The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000.
Transmission failure problems have been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda eventually extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accords as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

2005 Honda Accord Owner Comments
While sitting in my drive way, crank car, idle was going up and down, put car in Drive and my car suddenly started to accelerate. I almost hit my neighbors house got car turned, had to go in fast circles around block till car slowed down so that I could switch it off. Scared me almost to death, No car mat issue, tapped the gas and applied the brake and the car would not even slow down.
I have not had the car towed to the mechanics yet, I am afraid to drive it now. I am a little nervous to continue driving it. I am grateful that no one was in front of the vehicle when it took off and that my neighbor's house was 1/2 acre away. I was very fortunate not to have hit anyone.
If anyone has had this problem and found a solution please advise. I called Honda and they said they never heard such a thing. I don't believe that. Cheryl, USA
