This car is a worthless.........

I bought new Honda thinking it would run trouble-free for tens of thousands of miles. WRONG..

Between 86000 and 115000 miles I have replaced whole brake system including rotors, replaced cracked suspension struts, replaced AC unit which stopped working, replaced clutch, replaced oxygen sensors, now catalytic converter needs replaced, inside and outside is falling apart even though this is a one-driver (lady) car - never any kids or pets in it.

Have spent approx. $6000 in repairs over last 18 months.

Not at all what I expected from Honda.

Shame on you Honda!! I am a walking Honda commercial, lawn mower, outboards, motorcycles, six Honda cars, but your rotors on ALL our Honda cars are total crap! Replaced them twice on this Accord, and on four previous Hondas. Buy them from GMC, shucks Hundai, Ford!!! If Ford can make a Rotor that stops my F350 with over a ton on it, one would think you could come up with a rotor that would not drive your loyal fans away!! Shame shame shame...

I really don't understand except normal wear and tear.....This is the second time I've had to replace the front and back brakes and rotors. Is this expected with a 2007 Honda Accord?

I've been buying Honda's for 40 years...never had to get rotors turned when getting my first new tires.....I believe the rotors must be defective and that Honda corporation should pay Honda dealer to replace my rotors ..

Accord SE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

My new Honda started experiencing "funny" braking first time around 20K miles or so. I took it to Aamco and after paying $350 they replaced all 4 brake pads. Life was good again.

Then recently at round 50K miles or so, same issue!!! I bought aftermarket brake pads and replaced them myself for about a 1/3rd of the price.

However this is not acceptable. I have owned many cars in my life and bought an Accord under the impression that it would be as reliable as my Civic as well as my friends' other Hondas. There really is something wrong with models 2003-2007 which share the braking system, and Honda should recall them, or at least test and recommend aftermarket rotors and brake pads which would make this Accord perform like an Accord should!

Shame on you Honda for not standing by your product. My next car will be a Toyota...

I own 2007 Honda Accord SE. At 40,000 miles the rear brakes started making a small tinging sound. With in two days of this initial noise the rear brakes are grinding loudly. I took off the rear tires and the pads are close to 100% gone. This is a good car with no issues and all of a sudden, tinging, squealing, grinding and within a day the brakes are gone!?!. We are avid Honda Owners. 2 Civics 2 Accords Our 1990 Accord runs great...haven't had any major issues with that car. Our 1998 Accord that we traded in for the 2007 had no major issues let alone brake issues. I thought my beautiful Accord would last for years without major issues. VERY disappointing. Seems that everyone has same issue ....brakes die after about 25,000-30,000 miles. Honda, please step up and do what is right.

My wife just bought this 2007 Honda Accord and soon after we noticed that the rear brakes were worn significantly and the rear rotors were severely scored. The car has been previously owned by an elderly gentleman who did not abuse the car in any way. All maintenance records for the vehicle were provided to me when we purchased the car. I was actually shocked to see that the REAR brakes on a vehicle wore out so quickly. I am very reluctant to have Honda replace the brakes and rotors with the same ones (and then charge me a large sum to do so). Having reviewed some information online about this car, I feel that it is a Honda problem with using inferior brake products. I have over 200,000kms on my 03 Toyota Camry and the rear brakes were replaced at 180,000 kms.............much better than the Accord. I am disappointed that I bought this car without first looking into the systemic problem that it had with brakes.

I have an extended warranty on this vehicle though I doubt that it will cover this as they'll say it's "normal wear and tear" for this vehicle. Rubbish !!

Would certainly appreciate information on how to get this problem rectified once and for all.

Thanks

Accord LX 4 cyl

Took vehicle in shortly after purchase (a few months) and complained to dealer about the touchy brakes. Not much pedal applied and the car breaks would grab causing passengers to jerk forward. Dealer said the car was 'breaking' in the breaks. Never seem to 'break-in' , so went back to dealer & complained. They placed it on the rack and said everything looked okay.

Took it in for the 30K mile service and was told the rear breaks are at 3% or 5% and needed replacing. Started my web search knowing there had to be something wrong....thought front breaks did 80% of the breaking on passenger cars.

Accord LX 3.0L, V6

Hi,

I'm having the same issue with my Accord for the last 2 years. I bought my 07 Accord 3.0 V6 L brand new in 2007 and within 2 years of driving, 40,000kms, vibrations started to come out of the wheels which quickly turned into shuddering noises from under the car.

Sometime in 2009 - I took the car into my local Honda service center and it was identified that issue is to do with the rotors. They couldn't be specific if this was to do with front or rear rotors so they decided to resurface all 4 at my personal cost.

- I took the car back to them within weeks advising the problem has not gone away. They decided to have another look and found the front rotors had to be resurfaced again and that I would have to pay for it. I wasn't happy about that obviously and advised service manager that it's ridiculous... They took the cost on as good will and resurfaced the front rotors. I took the car back but the issue was never resolved.

- Yet again, I was back sitting with the service manager within a few weeks and this time Honda Australia decided to put new front rotors. Within a matter of few weeks, vibrations reappeared.

- Here I'm back with the service center once more, this time they make me go through getting new tires (my tread was running low so I had to get that done anyways). That didn't solve any issue and I was back with them in a few weeks time. I got new brakes around the same time as they had worn out as well.

- This time they decided to replace all 4 rotors and within a matter of 3 months, I'm back to the same issue all over again

- February 2011, I'm now back with my service center but also have Consumer Relations at Honda Australia involved. They have offered to replace all 4 rotors & brakes with NEW. I have this time refused to take their good-will offer (apparently this is not covered in warranty but for some reason they have offered to do the repairs out of good-will).

I have refused to accept their offer this time around until they provide a guarantee that either;

a: This issue will not reappear b: Honda Australia will take full ownership of the issue for the life of this car

They have refused both above options so I'm left with no choice but to escalate this matter officially to Honda and if I still get no luck in them taking responsibility of this issue - I will take them to courts.

If you also wish to do file an official complaint with Honda, please let me know the complaint # and I'll use that as a reference to my case. And I can provide you with the same if you like?

Best regards. Numan S. Sydney, Australia

Accord EX-L 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Pulsating in brakes started around 18K Miles. Dealer said it just happens. They've suggested re-surfacing the rotors, which I've been told is worthless, as once the metal has deformed, it will just keep happening. Honda dealer refuses to take any action. I'm in the market for a new car and you can bet Honda isn't on the list.

Honda really needs to man up and make good on this and reimburse owners or fix these problems. Sad, my 2005 Pilot was a great build, this thing, you can tell it won't hold up anywhere near as well.

Sad, really sad, when a manufacturer chooses to throw away their reputation for so little money...

Accord EX 3.0L V6

  • 38,000 miles

I bought my 07 accord brand new. Everything was fine until 15,000 miles when I had a vibration with the brakes. I knew something was wrong with the rotors since it was so new and being a manual I don't use my brakes as much. So, thankfully I knew some people at Honda and after a complete brake inspection they resurfaced all 4 rotors. The problem went away but came back withing another 10,000. I went to just brakes to have them resurface the rotors yet again. This time the vibration was still there but not as bad. They mentioned resurfacing the back at an extra 100 would fix it. I declined as the rear brakes aren't used nearly as much and thus would have been a waste. Although they should have fixed all 4 for that price. Luckily, I don't drive much but I am going to try one more time to resurface all 4 rotors to see if I can buy some more time before going to a complete new aftermarket brake parts. I assume it will be the same issue at almost 40,000. I think I will probably have to buy some aftermarket parts for the car. Larger brake pads, probably ceramic, vented rotors as well.

If these were the same type of brakes installed on the V6 engine Honda Accord, they will have worst or earlier problems occurring on the same car. For the price of the car why didn't they installed better quality brakes. While Honda is advertizing high quality and good gas mileage on their vehicles they sell.

Accord SE 4

My 2007 Accord has only 12000 miles and needed to have its rotors turned! No way! I have owned 6 Honda's so far, all bought new and all with no problems till now. The local dealer told me that my driving habits (like hard braking) where to blame and wanted and arm and a leg for the work. Rip off. Honda customer service says "Sorry" but not under our warranty. Honda has a problem with these rotors and they are unwilling to do anything about it. Had to pay the local guy $300 for the fix. My next new car WILL NOT be a Honda.

2007 Honda Accord with less than 10,000 miles. I heard a whistling or squeeling noise, took my car to a mechanic and found that my break pads had cracked and my rotors were warped. Therefore, my brake pads need to be replaced and rotors can be saved by grinding down and turning. This is riduculous. Honda needs to held accountable for this! I am going to call and complain.
