So I'm driving my car along like normal and I take a sharp turn to park it and the check engine light comes on. First thing I check is the oil and there is none registering on the dipstick. Regular oil changes with synthetic oil. Start having it checked in between oil changes because I am always having to have them add oil.

Check engine light coming on indicated that the CO2 sensor was bad. Had it replaced. Check engine light still comes on. Believe that this is related to the excessive oil consumption.

Well, I bought this Honda brand new because of the reputation that Honda has always had. The check engine light just recently came on. A diagnostic tester was place on the vehicle to find it is code P0341, which is the Crankshaft Cam sensor. After some investigation, find out this could be a stretched timing chain. At this point, I am expecting the worst and that is what it will be. I am not driving the vehicle now due to this issue.

I see that Honda settled a class action suite for excessive oil consumption and wonder if the 07 Accord was included in anything?? As I stated above, I bought this car brand new so I know the history. The oil is changed as required; however for the last several years I have had to add oil in between EVERY oil change. I am not talking adding half a quart or one quart, it is usually two or two and half quarts at times. Now I have the check engine light on that seems like it will possibly be a stretched timing chain due to this oil consumption. First off, the Accord 4 cylinder was supposedly supposed to have a chain that would not have to be changed as the belts in the 6 cylinder vehicles. Secondly, it is quite a hassle to have to check the damn oil in the vehicle once a week to make sure it is at optimum operating capacity. Who even expects to do that with a vehicle, especially a Honda!! I previously drove a GMC Yukon that had over 150,000 miles on it and that did not consume oil as this Honda does. Very disappointing and I am unsure if my next vehicle, which will also be being bought new, will be another Honda.

This is a very major problem with this vehicle.

The engine light came on. I took the vehicle to a dealer shop and was told that the torque converter, part of the transmission is failing. The estimated cost to fix is $2,500. This car is 9 years old, has been well cared for and has very low mileage 56K. Purchasing the car, not quite 2 months ago, I am not sure if there have been any performance changes. I haven't become accustomed to how it runs yet.

engine misfire, burnt coil, damaged cylinder & block

Check engine light came up all of a sudden while driving back home form work; I parked the car shortly and took it to the dealer the next morning. They said the codes are indicating engine misfire and they need to replace all the spark plugs, and one affected ignition coil. The next business day they called and said the car is ready to pickup; within 5 mins they called back and said parts from the damaged spark plug went into the cylinder and the engine and I need to replace the cylinder and the entire engine block. I bought this car brand new in 2007 and has little more than 75k miles on it. This is very unusual and not normal at all for a Honda accord engine to get damaged like this at 75k miles. At 60k miles I did replace all the 6 spark plugs with the same dealer as per their recomendation. Since then I had taken my car to the same dealer at 65k and 70k miles for scheduled service. And then on my 75k service the entire engine, one cylinder out of the two, all spark plugs and the ignition coil in the damaged cylinder are all burnt out and "detonated" as per the dealer. And I need to pay $6500+tax to fix it? And this is my 4th brand new honda - I bought a brand new accord before this, and 2 brand new Odysseys. Seriously?

Accord LX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,000 miles

My accord has been throwing on a check engine light and jerks back as if I downshifted. Then it doesn't go over like 2500rpm. I have to pull over and disconnect the battery to re-set it. I have been everywhere getting shops to pull codes for the check engine light and they all say there is nothing stored so there is no code to get. i have all fluids flushed, new spark plugs and air filter. I thought i had it all fixed and about 2 months later, it happened again, been doing it every week now. honda won't fix it cause they want me to pay $120 to run a check on it. that's just bullshit.

Accord EX 2.4L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

Check engine light came on within 48 hours after I bought the car. Returned it to the dealer and demanded my money back. They refused. Burien Honda (WA) service dept. examined the car and said it was the catalytic converter. I again demanded my money back. They refused. Salesman said all 2007 Honda Accords have faulty catalytic converters and that Honda reimburses the dealers for replacement. Once again, I demanded my money back. They refused. After an hour of demanding, they finally gave me my money back. Burien Honda advertises themselves as being a small, personal dealer. Now I understand why they stay small.

complaint #3, now this was the BIGGY!!! car all of a sudden began jerking and as I stepped on the gas, car would not pass 3000RPM. 3000RPM was the limit,I parked and ran the car to find our if this occurred only while driving, nope, same caca. took the car in for this and the paint chipping and brake noise issue. All this cost me a week without my car, and on top of that, 75miles were put on the car for "ROAD TESTING", how extreme is that???
