CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Honda Accord has several serious defects: poor brakes, excessive oil consumption, & uncomfortable seats.

BRAKES: There was a class action lawsuit against Honda in 2010 for premature & excessive brake wear. See our page on Honda's brake problems for more info.

OIL CONSUMPTION: Honda issued a TSB about this in late 2011, claiming it could be fixed through a software update to the VCM (variable cylinder management). There are class action lawsuits pending. See our page about the Accord oil consumption.

UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS: Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight. The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

Well the 4th problem i've had with the infamous 08' Accord. I don't know what Honda was thinking when they created this vehicle. Maybe " Hey, lets build a vehicle that will constantly have problems and will be a complete pain in the ass for all of our customers" Im pretty sure that the engineers that worked on this vehicle were drunk when they gave it the Green light for production.

Once cool weather sets in the mismatch between the glove box and the surrounding cockpit becomes evident. The glove box squeaks incessantly with every road ripple. Worse as the temperature dips. Cold winter last year; car squeaked endlessly.

Multiple issues with this coupe.

Honda's reputation is soooo BOGUS.

I have the same glove box misalignment problem. I didn't notice it at first until it started to rattle. I took the car to the dealer and they said they have put some foam pad to stop the rattle. However, the misalignment is still quite noticeable. Recently the rattling noise is back and the misalignment has become an eye soar. These dealer visits are becoming a little annoying.

The glove box does not properly line up with the angle of the cockpit on the RH side. It looks as if the glove box "sags" on the RH side. I was told by the dealer that the glove box has no adjustment to even it out and that all 2008 coupes have this problem. I find this a little hard to believe. I was told that the older model Accords had an adjustment for this, but the facelift '08 and later models do not...very big design flaw if you ask me. I didn't notice the problem until after I had my car in for warranty work on another issue where they had to dis-assemble my dash to try and figure it out...that problem has not been fixed yet either. So, I'm not sure if this was caused by dis assembly or if it was already there. I was told that there is no solution for this eye sore. I'm sure there will be no recall since it is not safety related. We need more complaints to Honda Motor America to get this fixed.
