CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Honda Accord has several serious defects: poor brakes, excessive oil consumption, & uncomfortable seats.

BRAKES: There was a class action lawsuit against Honda in 2010 for premature & excessive brake wear. See our page on Honda's brake problems for more info.

OIL CONSUMPTION: Honda issued a TSB about this in late 2011, claiming it could be fixed through a software update to the VCM (variable cylinder management). There are class action lawsuits pending. See our page about the Accord oil consumption.

UNCOMFORTABLE SEATS: Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight. The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

Avoid this car at all cost. Had mine regularly maintained, still engine start leaking oil and eventually failed after I missed to check my oil level (which I was doing every week).

My car would have been covered under the extended warranty as a result of the class action lawsuit, had someone contacted me 3 years ago, when I started having the problem, to tell me about it.

I had oil consumption test and it passed. Now driving car an oil comes out of exhaust pipe leaving oil smudge all over the back window. Never buy a Honda again.Driving around with oil in the trunk never knowing when the oil will run dry without even a warning. The oil light doesn't even come on to warn you. Blasted Honda on their web site with no results. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A CAR THAT I POSSIBLY WILL HAVE TO BUY AN ENGINE FOR. Out of my pocket.

Back in Feb. 2015, I was informed from Curry Honda of Atlanta, I had 2 or 3 oil leaks. I paid them $800 to fix the problem. In Sept or Oct of 2015 my oil light started coming on before it was time to change the oil. Once back at Curry Honda, I was informed the problem was not fixed. Therefore, they fixed the problem (no charge and indicated on the paper) and gave me a free oil change. Fast forward to 2016, my oil light was coming on again. I took my car back to Curry Honda and the rep wanted to do a test to see what the problem for every 1000 miles. No problems for the next 3000 to 4000 miles until May 2016, my oil light came on at 60% and I returned back to Curry Honda. I was then informed my car was leaking oil from the oil pan in 2 places and in the engine, and to have the timing belt changed for $1600 plus. Really!!!! I had already decided prior to this oil situation I was never going to buy another Honda due to boring styling, poor material products (especially poor interior insulation), heater that turns off if the cabin is too warm (who the hell recommended this dumb ass feature) and replacing the radio from a BOSE to ELS. No more Hondas for me, thank goodness this Accord is paid for but has been the most costly out of my first Accord that really enjoyed. Also, I was informed from that customers had problems with this particular dealership, I can attest to that based on some other recommed service at a cheaper price. Thats another story!!! So long Boring Ass Honda!!!
