CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Honda Accord has a solid reputation (so far), with one very significant flaw: uncomfortable seats.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight.

The common theme we hear is "we never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

My transmission failed catastrophically puncturing the crankcase. Upon examination the dealer claimed that we "clearly hit something in the road". Though we had not noted this, the dealer's photos seemed convincing enough that we contacted our insurance company (on the dealer's recommendation). Insurance adjuster stated that there was no evidence of hitting road trash... insurance adjuster recommended we contact Honda USA even though the car was 6000 miles out of warranty.

This is where it gets interesting... Honda USA opened a case on the transmission failure. Upon their inspection, they claimed that I had "abused" my car and performed a "neutral drop" leading to the failure. Apparently a neutral drop is when a VERY STUPID person revs the engine in neutral and drops the car into gear... spinning the tires... similar to a street-racing peel out. As if anyone would street-race in an Accord... Upon speaking to the dealer, they decided to reverse their story (remember the road debris?) and concur with the Honda USA adjuster. Needless to say, I never street-raced my Honda or abused it.

Rather than deal with paying the $5000 for a rebuilt transmission, sadly I decided to sell for a loss and buy a Toyota. Now I won't have to deal with the jerks at Honda USA or our local, Centre County, PA Honda dealer. Honda, you've lost a loyal customer.

Never imagined that my Transmission would completely break down at 18K miles. A New Transmission was put into my Honda today!
