The contact owns a 2004 Honda CRV. The contact stated that the SRS warning indicator was illuminated when the vehicle was started and remained illuminated until the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the air bag control module would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

The manufacturer stated that his VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 04V255000 (air bags: Frontal). The failure mileage was 30,000 and current mileage was 35,249. Defect regarding wiring harness of the driver's front air bag being incorrectly wired. The vehicle was in an accident. In order to avoid being struck by an ongoing van, the consumer skidded off the road and hit a pole. The air bag never deployed. The consumer received a recall notice regarding the wiring of the air bag.
