CarComplaints.com Notes: There's an emerging trend of transmission problem with the 2010 Elantra at fairly early mileage.

So far owners report having the transmission replaced under warranty but that won't hold up for much longer. It may be a bit premature but for now we're putting the "CLUNKER" rating on the 2010 Elantra just to be safe.

Speaking of being safe, you might not be unless Hyundai can figure out why their airbags aren't deploying.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the brake pedal would intermittently depress to the floorboard without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle to two separate independent mechanics, and both informed her that the brakes were okay and could not determine the cause of the failure. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated that he did not receive a notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was included in the recall and the vehicle caught on fire while parked in his residence parking lot. No warning lights were illuminated. The fire department extinguished the flames. A police report was filed and the contact was informed that the origin of the fire came from the front of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not yet made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,500.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer who stated the parts were not yet available. The contact called ABC Hyundai (6825 Redwood St, Las Vegas, NV 89118, (702)706-7885) and was informed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard without warning. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he had the brake booster and brake master cylinder replaced. The contact then stated that when the engine was off, the ABS system remained activated as the ABS warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle back to the independent mechanic and was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V061000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the recall repair was performed however, the failure persisted. The contact then called the manufacturer and was referred to another dealer. The contact took the vehicle to Greenway Hyundai Orlando (4110 W Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32808) where he paid for a diagnostic test and was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. He was also informed that the recall was serviced and that he would be responsible for any additional repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 112,000.

The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V061000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, after contacting the local dealer glendale Hyundai located at 411 S brand blvd, glendale, ca 91204, the contact was informed that the computer system was inoperable and no service appointments were available. After contacting the manufacturer it was confirmed that no recall service appointments could be placed due to an inoperable computer system. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

2010 Hyundai Elantra (rented). Consumer wanted to know were there any recalls issued related to defects in the steering, accelerator problems, suspension problems or brake problems the consumer stated he was involved in an accident, which caused him to crash. Updated 01/15/13 the consumer stated the vehicle swerved to the left, which caused him to strike a pole. The consumer then crossed the median, and struck another vehicle, killing the other driver. Updated 01/28/13 updated 02/07/13 updated 12/23/13 the consumer stated the cruise control was set at 42 mph. When the vehicle swerved, he hit the brake, but the cruise control did not disengaged, instead the vehicle increased in speed. Updated 07/07/14 updated 09/24/14

A car purchased new and driven for four months is experiencing brake failure. It is occurring when driven in snowy conditions while in lower gear. The pedal locks making it impossible to push down in order to brake. The pedal shakes and grinds in the process.
