Just left the highway, drove 2 minutes to my house and as I turned into driveway, there was a loud clunk. The rear control arm rusted completely out. The car is barely in my driveway and not drivable at this point. No warning, just broke. 2 minutes earlier and I wouldn’t be alive to tell about it. The car is a 2015 with only 33,000 miles on it, in the garage during winter. I have no idea how Nissan doesn’t consider this is a safety hazard and no recall was done. Especially given the number of complaints filed. And now I’m told the extended warranty expired. So much for Nissan.

The drivers side rear lower control arm broke while my son was driving. Scared the hell out of him. There was already a plan in place to do some repairs to the car, just happened to be going that day, now. I could not believe when the mechanic has said what the issue was. I've seen and know about Lower Ball Joints, Sway Bar Links and Control arm issues, but a freaking lower Control Arm?!?!

Mechanic had mentioned that there is a Recall for them and this issue. It is "known" in the US, where it "snows and use salt on the roads", but NOT in Canada. (Wonder why...) I had called and got nothing but the run-around treatment.

It was the Mechanic that took action FOR me by dropping the car off, and talked to the dealership himself. The dealership relented, and completed the repaired for free. But only the affected side, not in a pair like most mechanics insist on when doing suspension pieces.

Took two weeks...

Still love the car, just upset at finding the hard way about what is essentially a Silent recall Campaign.

My husband was driving down a flat, smooth, paved road and the driver side control arm snapped off at the weld. The dealer just informed us that the passenger side control arm is about to snap at the weld as well. There were no warning lights or sounds. My husband heard an odd sound at the exact moment that the car began to fish tail out of control wildly. My husband and child could've crashed and been hurt or killed because of this defect yet, there are no formal, published, recalls issued. It is at a dealer now and they claim Nissan is going to cover the cost - however, a formal recall needs to be issued before an entire family driving down the highway is killed. We will NEVER buy a Nissan again. This crate has had nothing but problems, recalls, and repairs.
