The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that while refueling, the filler tube failed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired for the failure under recall 07V435000 (fuel system, gasoline: Storage: Tank assembly: Filler pipe and cap). The dealer would not repair the vehicle a second time free of charge. The manufacturer was notified, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 150,000. If recall was indeed performed, then replacement tube is faulty and may represent manufacturing defects in the updated product. Updated 09/14/2011

The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the gas tank filler pipe rusted through allowing water to enter the gas tank and fuel to leak. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic who stated that the recall for the fuel system, gasoline storage tank assembly, filler pipe and cap (07V435000) was related to the failure. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the recall and due to the VIN the vehicle was not associated with the recall. The contact was concerned about the safety risk involving the fuel tank and request that the manufacturer issue an additional recall that includes more vehicle identification numbers. The failure mileage was 114,664.

The contact purchased the part and replaced the component. Since that time, he has been made aware of NHTSA campaign id number 07V435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap), however, Nissan stated that his VIN was not included. The gas line filler pipe on my 2000 Nissan Pathfinder was defective and caused the gas to over flow when the tank was filled. There was 2 month back order on the part. This would suggest that problem was common.
