Changed the timing chain on this damn Nissan once already ran for about a week then the damn harmonic balancer woodruff key breaks and causes it to jump time. So I f*cking tear it back apart replace the harmonic balancer and the woodruff key, reset the timing, put it back together and it cranks up once. Then f*cking jumps time again. Now I have to replace the damn tensioner again, even though I just replaced it when I replaced the timing chains. What in the hell is the problem with this truck?
Timing Chain failure probably caused the Catholic Convertor to fail and blow out, which costed me $2,000 to fix. Not happy that NISSAN has failed to correct this issue, as its a Chain & supposed to last virtually forever
I took my Nissan Pathfinder in to diagnose slipping/shuddering tranny. Note - refer to my separate complaint on how Nissan didn't honor work based on related class-action lawsuit. After inspection, the service advisor said my timing chain guides need to be replaced for $1500 on top of $4000 tranny repair. I was caught off guard by this extra maintenance because I didn't report an issue with my engine and the dealer never tried to make extra money while my vehicle is being serviced... at least not to that extreme level.
Why is Nissan trying to get me to fix my timing chain guides? I'd like to think I stay familiar with my cars and any notable issues they may have. I'm no certified mechanic but I've owned 25 different car and trucks. I have been doing things like brake jobs, valve adjustments, timing, pulling engines and doing performance mods since I was 15 yrs old. So, with all that in mind... I found it odd.
Fast forward 8 months and I received a letter in the mail about a new class-action lawsuit brought against Nissan for guess what? If you said timing chain guides then you win what's behind door #1. Nissan is once again hiding known problems and trying to get the customer to pay for the fix. My tranny is still busted but I will gladly drag it down to Nissan and make 'em fix it for free if that is what is takes. I may be contacting my local major news channel too since they have an outlet for investigating and drawing attention to citizens who have been wronged.
I took my car to the dealership for the whining noise. They sent me back saying there was no problem and a week later had to replace all of my timing chains. Which was brutally expensive. Then my other mechanic found a factory bulletin about my timing chains and defective parts. Again, something i should have been warned about but yet again Nissan dropped the ball in a big way.
When I took my car into Nissan to fix transmission and coolant system, I was told the timing chain needed to be replaced at my cost because it was worn and it was not covered under warranty. I found out later that this was a problem with this make of car and Nissan had knew about the problem, however they would not fix at their cost.
