Pathfinder ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 800 miles

The 2013- 2014 Nissan Pathfinders were manufactured with a CVT transmission that was supposed to offer smooth shifting for a cleaner ride. The transmission design is faulty and our brand new Pathfinder needed a transmission replacement at 800 miles. This vehicle is very nice and had all the bells and whistles, however this transmission problem is a severe safety issue, and all of these vehicle should be recalled to replace the faulty units.

Pathfinder V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,120 miles

Hesitation and stalling has happened several times. On one occasion I had 4 co-workers in the car at the time (they are all witnesses) and I pulled out to make a left hand turn in front of oncoming cars and the car hesitated causing an almost catastrophic event. The dealer says that they cannot just replace the transmission until it has been documented happening several times over 6 months and even then they will not guarantee that it will fix the problem. I asked if they would trade out my car with the 2015 model, because as stated by them, the 2015 model does not have these issues and they said they would, however, my payments would go up to an amount that I cannot afford to make. They were unwilling to make my payments the same as they are now. The head of the customer service department actually stated that no matter what they do, it will not fix the problem because it is the way the vehicle was manufactured by Nissan.

To date there is NO actual "recall" on this problem.

Pathfinder SL 3.5L V6 Smpi

  • CVT transmission
  • 3,336 miles

This is the 2nd time the transmission has been replaced and we have only 3,551 miles on this 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. Nissan is fully aware of this problem and blames JATCO (Nissan owns 75% of JATCO) who builds these transmissions, JATCO blames the consumer http://californialemonlawgroup.com/is-your-new-2013-or-2014-nissan-pathfinder-a-lemon/, stating that "the consumer is unfamiliar with the CVT transmission" This problem has been an issue for over 10 years and is still going on in every car or SUV that has the CVT manufactured by Nissan.

Please go to https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/ to file a complaint with the government about this problem if you have experienced it or have if you know someone who has experienced this please ask them to file a formal complaint. The only way this will go away is if the consumer hits them in the pocket book with fines by the government and/or a loss in sales of their vehicles.

Pathfinder Platinum 3.6L

  • CVT transmission
  • 60 miles

I Purchase this $60,000 Dollars top of the line SUV only to deal with a stuttering or slipping problem that is currently being worked on. What I can't understand is why Nissan, if they knew about this issue in 2013, they went ahead and sold new vehicles with the same transmission problem, and didn't perform the transmission update or replacement prior to selling these expensive vehicles. Are they waiting for someone to get hurt before they take action like GM or Toyota!
