Notes: An increasing number of Toyotas are experiencing excessive oil consumption and the 2007 Camry seems to be leading the charge.

Owners are reporting that their engines are deprived of oil halfway through their maintenance schedules and in some cases the damage is so bad that entirely new engines need to be installed, paid out of pocket. The issue may be a result of defective piston rings and is the possible target of a class-action lawsuit.

Toyota has issued a TSB for this problem, but maintains their stance that vehicles equipped with a 2AZ-FE engine are burning through a “normal” amount of oil.

The instrument that show speed, RPM, gasoline, etc was going wary. The speed and the RPM go up and down, brake light come on, ABS light come on, etc. I do not how fast I drive. This happened around every 5 mins, randomly and last for 1 mins sometimes 10 mins. The air conditioning stop working during this time. I checked online and I saw many people experience the same thing. This is a manufacturer problem, there is not relate issue with the way you drive, the way you do anything in the car. I used the card since new and the mileage currently only 103K+, for 9 years old car this is very low mileage.

Recently the "ABS" and "brake" light came up; now these light come up and stay on for some time- simultaneously; the needles of the mph, RPM, H/C, and gas gauge drops- the prm needles flicker up and down. Also, the temperature marker doesnT work. The mph hits down to 0 when I am on the road at normal speed. But I don't know my speed. My air conditioning system does not work when this happens. I also notice that it doesn't track the "trip miles when it is out of control (although I havenT noticed if it fails to track the mileage on the odometer. Then this problem stops and the car goes back to "normal." A few minutes later, the same problem. The problem can last for 5 minutes to 20 minutes. I called Toyota service's 800 number after searching the web and reading similar problems being documented. Here are just a few:; one person posted I called the Toyota corporate office in 2012, yet when I called Toyota claimed no knowledge. The person I spoke to even said they have never received a call about this before. Some of the posts online of people who have complained about this issue state the exact thing Toyota told me over the phone. This is a huge safety hazard. I tried to defrost my windows and had an issue with that because the car was on the "ABS" "brake" and the car was acting up. My car tested positive for oil consumption problem and I am waiting to get that replaced. Now this started happening. This "new" problem needs to be addressed and corrected by Toyota.

While operating the vehicle (stationary or moving) the instrument panel will intermittently provide false/no information. Some of the known symptoms include the flashing of the malfunction lights for the ABS system and parking brake, the gauge needles showing zero while moving or bouncing intermittently, and the A/C system being inoperative.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While the vehicle was parked, the contact was able to place the gear shifter in reverse without the keys being in the ignition. The vehicle coasted backwards and crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000.

I had ABS, and brake lights came on. The speedometer, odometer and A/C has stopped working without reason. Dealer found U0073 trouble code and I had the replace ABS actuator assembly which includes ABS pump and ECU. From the research that I made online, I have found out that many 07-10 Camry users have the same problems with their ABS system. A new actuator assembly costs over 3000 dolares and they are manufactured by Bosch. I believe that Toyota is hiding the problem because a recall cost on this particular matter will be a lot higher. An example of the problem was shown in the following youtube video: Https://

The instrument panel and ac the panel while driving down the road will go out and act like the car is just in start mode. You can not tell anything while this happens. Not if your car is overheating not how fast you are going. Nothing your intrument panel should tell you while your driving. The ac started acting up at the same time. It comes in and out with cold air like the instrument panel. When googled to see how to fix this... I can acrossed many others having the same problem. It started a while back. I have special need children so money is tight or I would have fixed it by now. The car has been sitting and only moving when it has to be used. I use a gps for speed. I just live through the ac. I have been told the ac problem in eletric like the panel. The picture attached is what it shows while out 99% of the time.

The ABS and brake lights of my Toyota 2007 Camry come on and off intermittently. When the lights are on, the whole dashboard readers; the speedometer, RPM, engine temperature and other gauges jump and flicker, the light markers for transmission gear and parking go off. The ac unit also did not work. I went to dealer to get it checked out but there were no codes to diagnose the issue. I was told to come back again when it happens for longer than a day. It keeps happening at various times of the day (morning and evening), when the car is stopped or moving, and on all types of roads and driving conditions (city streets, highway, at a stop light, at a stop sign, when I am turning). I have noticed that Toyota has already issued a recall for the same issue for the 2007 Camry hybrid. Given the sheer number of complaints I have read about this issue for the regular Camry 2007, it seems ridiculous that Toyota has not issued a recall for this for the 2007 Camry.

My car was burning more than 5 quarts in less than 3K miles but after long time finally Toyota has fixed the issue. But this was happening for me from 45K miles on my car around 2009 until now. Mean while since the engine was burning which caused my catalytic converter to blow off. They should replace the catalytic converter too because this is caused by the engine oil burning in the combustion camber. Few years back they fixed my power window on the driver side but last 12- 18 months I am experiencing an issue some times the window opens on the passenger side but most of the time passenger would try to open but it wont open. I believe its an electrical issue which may have happened after they fixed on the driver side. If any accident happens then the passenger wont be able to get out which is very dangerous its an safety issue.

9/15/15 the seat belt alarm system fails intermittently. This is seat belt alarm failure is a new development. It occurs in conjunction with the ABS light coming on in the instrument panel, also an intermittent event. This ABS light event continues to cause additional failures, including all instrument panel indicators including bright lights, air conditioner failure warning and now seat belt alarm.

I initially began noticing that when the ac does not blow cold air when turned on that all of the gauges on my dashboard stop working including, speedometer dropping to 0 while I am driving so that I do not know at what speed I am driving, my gas gauge inexplicably drops to empty, lights on the dashboard stop working and my dashboard goes dark, RPM gauge flickers wildly, brake & ABS lights do not go off, and occasionally the car stops but with hesitation when braking, along with interior fogging of all windows when it rains (sometimes defroster/fans work to defog windows but sometimes it does not causing my visibility while driving to be substantially and dangerously reduced). During some online research, I believed that the issues might be related to an earlier recall so I called the Toyota corporate office and they indicated that it may be related but to take the car to my local Toyota dealership to confirm. I took the car to Toyota of hollywood and the manager stated that it was not related to the recall and that the main computer was malfunctioning and causing the subcomputers to also malfunction and estimated a repair price of $2500. While I was doing my online research, it appears that many 2007 Camry are having the same exact issues I am having and in addition, the Toyota Camry hybrids had been recalled for the same issues as well. I do not believe I should incur the expense of repairs for issues that seem to be related to a manufacturers defect.

The primary safety concerns regarding my complaint are a malfunctioning speedometer and a malfunctioning anti-lock braking system; however, there are others, which I will describe. While I was driving home, the instrument panel went completely crazy. Specifically, the speedometer went to zero (as I was driving 40mph) the tachometer started bouncing up and down between 0 and 2 or 3, the brake and ABS light came on. Then, everything went back to normal before I could pull over. I soon realized additional problems like the temp gauge going limp and the air conditioner blowing hot air along with other things. All of this happened all together but on and off at random intervals. I did some research, which led me to the ABS issue. According to others with the same problem the repair is $2K-$3K and many had stories of dealers making various costly repairs that didnT fix the problem. I work for minimum wage, this is my only car, and it is 110 degrees in my town. Driving without air conditioning here is a safety hazard. One person suggested unplugging the faulty ABS module to regain air conditioning. When I did this the air conditioning did in fact start working along with the tachometer and temp gauge. The speedometer, odometer, and seat belt alarm still do not work. Furthermore, this is no longer intermittent but constant and the brake light, ABS light, and check engine light all remain on. An ABS malfunction could be disastrous in wet weather. The lack of a speedometer is a safety problem on city roads for obvious reasons and not to forget the seat belt alarm or the odometer, which no longer logs the mileage. My 2007 Camry had low miles for its age (<70K) when these problems first occurred; the car has been garaged and well maintained. I have read many other complaints from those with the very same problems and it seems like a faulty product is to blame.

4T1be46K07U678126 my 2007 Toyota Camry le four door automatic sedan has intermittent erratic problems with the instrument control panel: The ABS and emergency brake lights come on and the tachometer, thermometer and other gauges bounce up and down the events last for a few seconds to ten minutes, episodes occur sporadically and the car continues to drive normally during the events. I called Toyota (800) 331-4331 and asked for a warranty extension to repair the problem, denied by Toyota. I was instructed to take it to a dealer to identify the problem. On July 1, 2015, central Florida Toyota in orlando, Florida tried to charge me $59, I refused to pay and they eventually proceeded to determine the problem without charge. The repair estimate given to me says, "$2,217.05 for ABS actuator assy., R&R.? the mechanic said this is serious; the brakes can lock up while I am driving. There are numerous identical complaints on the internet but Toyota corporate said this problem is not subject to a recall or a reported problem. (just google, "2007 Toyota Camry ABS and brake light on". consumer complainants allege that the Bosch ABS ECU has a flaw in circuit board design.) this is very expensive problem and so common as to indicate that it is a manufacturer's defect and should be repaired free by Toyota. I am the original owner. Updated 9/15/15 updated 09/17/15
