CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

I have purchased a 2013 Honda Accord touring model. It is equipped with a front collision warning system (fcw) which has a radar sensor in the grille. The system alerts can be set for long, normal or short. When set for long the alert should come on about three car lengths away from the vehicle ahead. If the system determines a collision is possible, it should give both visual & audible alerts, including a heads-up warning that flashes on the windshield. The fcw system is not working as it is described in the owners manual. In fact it only alerts @ random times. I have had the dealers technician check it out on highways, main streets & local streets. He could only get the system to give an alert once when the car ahead was standing at a red light. The alert came when we were about one car length away from the vehicle ahead. He tried it again @ the next red light & it did not give any alert. I have tested the system at all speeds & distances driving behind a car driven by my wife, no alerts. The technician said the system does not seem to be working & he would call american Honda to get information on how the system should work. Have been in touch with american Honda & at this point in time they do not admit that there is a problem. I would have no problem having them or any third party check out the fcw system.

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while reversing from a parking space, the back up camera and the warning chime did not activate to notify the contact there was a vehicle in close proximity. The contact crashed into another vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. There were no injuries. The approximate failure mileage was 100.

This car has push button start on and off. The engine can be cut off with car in any gear and it does not have to be in park. I left the car in drive on a hill and went to get out and the car was drifting forward. I bought this car for safety features and this is a great concern. Has collision, lane change warnings and they are so low you can not hear them. I am 67 and my husband is 71 and this is not a safe car for our age group.called Honda and the warnings can not be cut up and there is nothing can be done about car drifting if you do not put in park. Very disappointed.

My new 2013 Accord has a serious safety issue with the user interface to the phone and music. The phone book, xm, and usb music are displayed in long lists. My 32 gb drive has 300 albums. My full collection has many more. The problem is that there is no fast way to scroll these lists. The driver must reach to the furthest-right knob and twist. This moves the list down one item. So selecting any list item while driving takes the driver's eyes off the road, causes bodily contortions (it is a long reach), and makes I impossible to actually scroll more than a few dozen places down the list.
