CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.
For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.
Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2013 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.
The vehicle is garaged in South Florida, so the car is rarely significantly cold.
The engine speed increases unexpectedly from a normal idle by about 250 rpm after shifting into drive, following starting the engine and backing the vehicle out of the garage. The engine speed does not increase when shifting into reverse or when shifting into neutral, but a second after being shifted into drive the engine speeds up. If the brakes are not held firmly, the car will lunge forward. The Honda dealer claims this is designed to warm up the catalytic converter quickly. I think it is an accident waiting to happen.
I was traveling home from work 7/31/14 @ 3pm, I was driving about 15 mi per hr., a car was in front of me. When all of a sudden the car accelerated on it own, went totally out of control and sped forward, the vehicle even turned right, it was as if it was being possessed. I tried to stop or slow it down with the foot brake and the hand brake, but nothing helped. What stopped the car was a collision into the car in front of me. The air bag exploded sending smoke in the air...I thought the car was going to explode, I ran out of the car and started crying and patting my chest, trying to calm myself down.
This was the first time in my life, I thought I was going to die..
