CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.
For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.
Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.
This is the 2nd of two 2014 Honda Accord Coupes that I owned with identical problems. They leak fuel into the Engine block. The excess fuel ends up in the oil pan, diluting the oil and raising its level above the full mark. I am not reporting on the first because I no longer own it. If you want info on the first one I will gladly provide it?
Honda Canada has been stonewalling me for over 4 months. I cannot believe anything they say. The car I am reporting on, I purchased on Feb 18/14. I traded the first one in at a $6000.00 loss because of the lies I was told by Honda Canada . This second one has the identical problem. By Feb 28/14 I could see the oil levels rising. By March 03/14 the level had risen to about 1" inch above the full mark. The dealership notified Honda Canada and changed the oil and filter and gave me the car back. In the cold weather, the car has a range of about 1000k before the oil needs to be changed.
AS of this date April 24/14, they (Honda Canada ) has made no effort to fix the problem. They say they fixed the first one after I sold it (???) So why haven't they fixed this one? They try to say that I am the only person in Canada with this problem (REALLY). They say they can fix the problem but they don"t. I've talked to another mechanic and he agrees with me. (I AM DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB). So I am reporting on what I feel is a very serious and dangerous situation but the more dangerous situation is Honda Cda's attitude towards its customers.
Update from Apr 25, 2014: They are guessing the problem is weather related plus the fact that I drive short distances and the Engine doesn't have a chance to warm up and burn off the excess gas! We had a very cold winter and this is a possibility? But I am not aware that they have a fix for this?
Update from May 3, 2014: I made an error on Engine Size. It is a 2.4L 4 cylinder
Since the weather has warmed up, it is no longer leaking fuel into the crankcase. But now it has another problem, The oil level keeps dropping, no signs of leaking?? It has dropped about 1/4 inch in the last week.
