CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

I went to get shots for my dog at a clinic and after stopping and starting many times over an hour the car started cycling through all the warning lights a second time. My niece took a video but we never posted it anywhere. The lights continued to cycle all the way home, it didn't stop me from driving like it did the first time but it made me a nervous wreck listening to it "ding ding ding" all the way up I95. They all came on every time I drove for the next day, then on Monday they stopped.

This was the first time it happened. I was in the parking lot at Olive Garden waiting for a meal. When I went to pull out, suddenly all the warning lights started cycling through and the emergency brake engaged. I was trapped in the parking lot for nearly half an hour, thought I would have to get towed, called Honda and they were NOT helpful, turned the car off for a while and when I turned it on after almost 30 minutes it was OK.

When I first bought this car, it only happened once and then didn't again, and it didn't prevent me from driving. Now in the past month it's happened three times and it is really nerve-wracking because you never know if it 's actually going to prevent you from driving. I am the sole driver in my house and caretaker for my 93-year-old mother, so when I bought the Honda it was because I knew it was supposed to be a reliable safe car. I am sorry now that I didn't buy another Toyota RAV-4, it had some problems early on but once they were repaired it lasted me 20 years. My niece had a CR-V 20 years ago, and it had electrical issues that they had a hard time fixing and even diagnosing, so I had assumed wrongly that by now they would have figured it out! If my dog hadn't scratched the outside of the car I'd trade the damn thing in already!

Bought this hunk of crap 3 weeks ago Hondas so called reliable. Well day after I bought it all the light on dash came on rebooted it took it out hit the brakes hard they went out. Now July 8th all lights back on rebooted it took it out they went out going to dealer today. I will never buy another Honda. I was looking for a Mazda cx5 when I got talked into this I should have stuck to my gut instincts. Now there are fuel in oil issues with these I just cant catch a break I spent all my savings buying this piece of sh*t.

I have taken my car in multiple times to get this fixed. The dealer would reset the technology and then everything would be fine. Then, a few months later, it would happen again. Rinse and repeat.
