CarComplaints.com Notes: Here's a disturbing trend for the 2002 Nissan Altima: the engine starts burning oil like crazy, the catalytic converter goes bad, the head gasket blows and eventually the entire engine needs replacement. Sound familiar? Like a script from a horror film, these Altimas seem doomed to fail around 95k miles.
I love my V6 Altima. It goes like a bat out of hell. BUT, Stopping is the problem. My front rotors keep warping so often it's ridiculous. I have to buy new rotors every time I replace the pads, last time I had to replace my new rotors with new rotors long before the pads were even half way worn. Not cool! You can feel the warp as strong vibration when you brake on the highway. I asked my mechanic for better rotors but he only does OEM. I can't stand it when 3 month old rotors start to vibrate again. It's like the only way I could have the car brake smoothly would be to replace my rotors at every oil change.
