CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 has a small, but significant number of transmission complaints at low mileage. The issue is part of a class-action lawsuit that says the Pathfinder's transmission shakes violently during acceleration between 15mph and 30mph.

I had a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder and my vehicle was inspected and passed with no issues in June 2019. The day of the accident, I drove all morning with no type of incidents. My niece, who lives on a hill was in the car with me. She had to returned to her house later that morning for an item, so I drove back up the hill, waited for her in her driveway. Left her house and as I was driving down the hill I realized that my brakes were not functioning. My emergency brake light appeared and then all the lights on my dashboard turned on. The emergency brake wasn't working and I couldn't stop the car. I kept pressing my brakes and nothing was happening. It just kept going! At that point, I looked around to see the place to crash. I came down the hill, crossed over the main road and steered my vehicle into a fence and we hit a tree. All of my airbags deployed and I was grateful that both my niece and I had no major injuries. I had no issues with my brakes in the past! I did find out that there was a problem with the brake software in the 2013 and 2014 Nissan Pathfinders model-years and there was a recall. I bought my vehicle in 2014 however I never got a recall notice. I also had my vehicle service at a Nissan dealership and brake software failures was never communicated to me. Clearly, something went terribly wrong with my brakes of the software that day.

Second time and again on a down hill slop started car, depressed brake pulled shifter from park, brake went to floor on 2000' driveway car out of control just missed pickup truck coming up driveway in other direction. called Nissan dealer and had car towed to Saybrook, Ct. dealership, they could find any thing wrong with the brakes. They had the car for a week and rebuilt the transmission. changed brake fluid. used the car until 4/11/18 with no problems and then again same problem.

I no longer own the car but second dealership Port City Nissan in Portsmount N.H. had same response could find nothing wrong with the brakes. I have owned 5 Nissans but will never own another one.

When on a down hill grade, start car, put your foot on the brake pedal, pull shifter from park, brake pedal goes to the floor and will not build pressure in the system to stop the car. I pump many times but car continued to roll out of control. I have a 2000' driveway and found an area with an up hill slop to stop the car. Shut down car, restarted and brakes came back. Scared the daylights out of me. Thought I must have made a mistake and did not have my foot on the brake pedal, but that is the only way to shift it out of park. Tou have to use the brake pedal to get it out of park. That was the first of three times that this has happened.

I have own a 1978 240Z, 1983 280Z, 1990 240SX, 2010 Maxima and this 2014 Pathfinder but I will never own another Nissan because Nissan would do nothing about the problem, except change the brake fluid. I think the anti lock brakes were malfunctioning.

Third time. Car parked on hill at motel. Motel owner asked me to move car. Started car, pressed foot pedal of brake, shifted into reverse, brake pedal went to the floor. Looked for something to slow car down, hit double section of fence and short stone wall. I asked the motel owner to check to see if the pedal worked for him, no it still went to the floor. I called Port City Nissan in Portsmoumt N.H. and had the car towed to them. Next day they could not find anything wrong with the brakes.

I purchased a car from them and they took ownership of the Pathfinder. I feel that the car is not fit to be on the road and would not let any of my family ride in it again. It has a very serious safety problem and should not be resold to the public. The salesman told me it was going to auction and that safety problem would be announced at the auction?
