CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 has a small, but significant number of transmission complaints at low mileage. The issue is part of a class-action lawsuit that says the Pathfinder's transmission shakes violently during acceleration between 15mph and 30mph.
Car makes a whining noise. It's not the electric power steering pump. Dealer says that it is the rear diff. Only way they claim to check is to drop the diff and take a look inside.
After hearing the whining noise I took my 2014 Pathfinder to a local dealer. After evaluation I was told I needed a new transmission at a cost of $4840.00. After picking up the vehicle I had the same noise. I returned the car to the same dealer and after another evaluation I was told I needed a transfer case. After questioning the need to replace the transmission I was told it was bad also. I asked why since it seemed to be working fine. They said it probably would have failed eventually. I said OK if it would have failed I would have dealt with a replacement then. Now you tell me you are pretty sure, but not completely sure, the problem is the transfer case at an additional cost of $3500.00. After much discussion with service manager he told me he would not refund any money spent on the transmission even though it did not correct the original problem. I decided to cut my loses and leased a new Pathfinder. I tell you if I have any problems with this car I will NEVER buy another Nissan again.
