CarComplaints.com Notes: For the third year in a row, the 3rd generation Focus is experiencing massive transmission problems.

Most notably owners keep complaining about how there's bad hesitation and jerking when starting from a stop. This isn't the result of an old, worn out part. In fact, the average mileage it's reported to us is just over 15k miles.

I bought the car brand new 2014 from Ford of Londonderry. After only 2 and a half years, the car wouldn't start. I brought it in, thinking it could be the alternator or something with the computer, but after spending $40 for them to diagnose the problem, they told me it was the battery and it needed a new battery, which would cost me $109.95, plus the $40 to diagnose it. However, the new Motorcraft battery comes with a 5 year warranty. Because I had just reached 38,000 miles on it, the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty did not cover this. The original battery was a Motorcraft but it doesn't come with the same warranty as the one I have to now purchase after only 2 and a half years of driving. Why do they put crap batteries in new cars that cost $20,000???? I called Ford customer relations and was told I had to purchase the new battery because the original is still part of the 3 year/36,000 mi warranty. I had a Toyota Corolla that I bought brand new and traded in for this after 5 years and I never replaced the battery. I just got the transmission issue resolved after 9 times being in the shop and having transmission parts replaced many times, now the battery after 2 years. The car just doesn't seem reliable.
