CarComplaints.com Notes: It's rare when a newer vehicle has defect trends, & the 2017 Honda CR-V has at least two — overfilled oil levels with a gas smell, & heat not working.

Both problems affecting the Honda CR-V's 1.5L "Earth Dreams" engine appear to be related to cold-climate regions.

CR-V owners report overfilled oil levels due to fuel in the oil, & sometimes a gas smell in the cabin. That problem appears to be related to fuel injection which Honda hopes to fix via a software update. Honda so far has only conducted a recall in China & a "product update" in Canada.

CR-V owners also report no heat even after warming up their CR-Vs for 30 minutes — not even enough to defrost the windshield. So far, there has been no fix from Honda for this issue.

Fourth time all my warning lights came on. First time I was able to get it to the dealership when they were open. The tech took it in for diagnosis and came back with a P0172 code - full system to rich. No visual cracks or deformities in air intake tube or house. They want me to replace my mass air flow sensor. They acted like they have never seen this before but back story - when I test drove the car, all the warning lights were on. They replace something with the turbo. I purchased at 31k miles and now has 47,864. Warranty expires at 48k.

Occured twice now and Ive been told by my local dealer that it is a normal issue during cold weather here in CANADA which is extremely frustrating since HELLO?! CANADA?? extreme cold is a part of daily life in here and you would expect honda to produce cars adapted to canadian weather.

So Collision Mitigation system and adaptive cruise control fails in the middle of driving they say its a battery issue and they have to reprogam the ICU. I say it is a safety issue as I have been in the middle of driving when the error happens and you momentarily lose control of the vehicle!!!

It has happened twice now! it just get itself fixed or disappears in 3 days but I know it will happen again and I'm deeply concerned and scared of using the vehicle again!

We have always had good experiences with the CRV, this is our 3rd. With the 2017 model, I was very skeptical purchasing this one. After driving the car for around 5 months, my wife experienced the dash lighting up everywhere. Returned it to the dealership and they were unable to replicate the defect. A service tech reset the computer and sent her on her way. Several weeks later, she was on her way home when the car once again did this and this time completely shut off at about 30 mph. She was able to pull to the side of the road without incident and car was towed to dealership. This time the service tech discovered a loose ground wire to chassis. Been good since for that problem. Now, we have a gas smell that can't be located. (Yes, up to date on recalls)

It was -39 deg C on January the first and the car block heater was connected. We waited for the temperature to reach -29 deg C and started the car. Everything was OK. We ran for 1.5 hours without any issue then I felt like a loss of power from the engine and all light and alarms went ON in the dash.

Following warnings pop up: Electric Parking Brake Problem, Charging system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) problem, Hill Start Assist Problem.

I parked and stopped the car. I restarted it and was able to run but with little power from engine. Then the motor lost even more power. Stopped again and restarted, was able to bring the CR-V back home but hardly. I had the feeling that the car had only 50 Hp. All the error message are still there. Checked the battery today and it is at 12 V. it comes to 14.4 V when engine is running.

I will bring the car to the garage tomorrow. Everything was closed for holidays.

Update from Jan 3, 2018: Dealer says there is a sensor to protect the Turbo Compressor. This sensor trigger maybe too soon to protect the Turbo. It was only -26 deg C. This is normal temperature for winter time around here. If it trips again, they will change this expensive sensor on waranty.

all dash lights flashing all dash lights flashing

Car is two months old and barely any mileage on it. This is the second time it has happened. Also happened on November 24th 2017. First time they thought maybe the battery had drained a bit...so they reset it. This most recent time it happened we had been driving the car most of the day. Went into a store no more than 8 minutes, came out started the car and the same issue. Every warning light flashes. You have to get to a service center and have them reset it. Said they needed time with the car so I left it there for a day- that was a week ago. I am told they see that an issue happened but the electronic system won't tell them what it is. I'm told they were online with Honda tech line for days. I called today and they tell me they still don't know what the issue is. The repair guy has been driving it around and trying to recreate the same issue and can't. WHY WHY did I buy a new car if I've been held hostage for a week (1/2 of which was before holiday) and am now driving some rinky dink loaner to family for Christmas. Honda of Levittown service center also hasn't regularly called to update me. I have to call and seem to get conflicting stories. Already researching the lemon laws as I've gotten this issue twice now (and it needs to happen 4 times). This is my 3rd Honda and I've never had issues but am seriously losing faith and my brand loyalty.

Update from Dec 28, 2017: Picked up the car today- 12/28/17 said it was clear. They couldn't replicate the error and did indicate that the car system said there had been an issue they were just unable to identify what the issue was as it didn't record anything. The car got a software update. Picked the car up- traded back the loaner- went to the car wash, parked the car for two hours, took a 15 minute car ride to a store, came out an hour later- started the car- same EXACT issue. Once you start the car. Following warnings pop up: Electric Parking Brake Problem, Charging system problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Brake Hold System Problem, Power Steering System (EPS) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) problem, Hill Start Assist Problem. I actually showed them the TPS issue another user reported on this site to see if that fix might actually resolve this issue.

Update from Feb 17, 2018: February 5, 2018. The last time this happened we were told they believed the alarm that we purchased from the Honda dealer was incompatible. They removed the alarm. My husband used the car on Saturday. I used it on Sunday. On Monday I started the car and got every single warning light again. Back to the dealership last weekend. They still have the car. They indicated that after consulting with Honda they installed a new computer in the car and still the warning lights come on. Now they believe it may be a parking break issue. Either way we have started our lemon law research. I think I've been more than patient - don't think its too much to ask to buy a new car and have to be worried every time you start it that every warning light and alarm will ring.
