Okay so I bought this 1998 Nissan Altima SE in Feb of 2015. The outside of the car is in great shape. The interior is nice and clean of a car that has 225*** miles on it. I do all the maintenance on the car myself. The only thing I had to do was change the oil. I climbed under the car and saw a little rust. Well, for a 17 year old car I didn't think much of it.

As I started to do more work to it, I started seeing more and more ....I changed the suspension back to stock. .... I pulled the back seats out and the was a lot of rust every where. I looked, all I saw was rust and more rust ....

My hood latch broke while I was 400 miles from my shop and most of my tools. Thank God I have a small tool box that I always have in the car. I had a drill and self tapping screws and I was able to "fix" it. I looked at the support at the bottom and it rusted all the way through. That's what caused it to break. I tinker with it every day and everyday I find more and more rust.

I really like the car. It drives great with the new suspension. It was taken very good care of, but I've seen 40 year old cars that have sat in the sun have less rust then this car.

I am a certified auto body technician, so I know how to repair and prevent the rust from getting worst I've read a lot and it seems that Nissan Altimas are full of rust. I've even heard of them coming off the delivery trucks with rust. I'm not talking bad about the car I am 23 years old and I've raced a few Honda's and other cars of the same class and nothing is as fast or as nice

Every Nissan Altima from 1995 - 2000 are rusting in the same spots on the door panel for the driver and passenger sides. Is this a manufacture defects with these models.? How do we fix it.
