CarComplaints.com Notes: Here's a disturbing trend for the 2002 Nissan Altima: the engine starts burning oil like crazy, the catalytic converter goes bad, the head gasket blows and eventually the entire engine needs replacement. Sound familiar? Like a script from a horror film, these Altimas seem doomed to fail around 95k miles.
I have a 2003 Nissan Altima. I love the car however for almost the past 2 years there has been a very annoying squealing every time you apply the brakes; especially in stop & go traffic and the noise seems to get worse in the spring & summer.
I have taken my car to several places and no one has been able to help. The brake pads are fine, the pads and rotors have been replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated by my ears and others around me in traffic.
I bought a 2003 Altima in august of 2004. I tesy drove it and even took it homr over night. A few days after i bought it, i noticed the brakes made annoying, loud squeaks. Every time i hit the brakes, the same thing would happen. I took it back, they checked it out, they said nothing was wrong. It continued, i took it back again, they told me that it would go away over time and that nothing was wrong. Since then, i taken it to two other places and have had brake pads replaced. Yet, they still make the horrible sound and its been a whole freakin year and four months later!
