Altima 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 215,000 miles

My 2004 Nissan Altima 2.5S (215K miles) is shaking (not too bad but enough to cause the rear view mirror to vibrate slightly) when stopping in Drive gear mode. It doesn't do this when stopping in Neutral or Reverse gear or when driving (more so in slow speed but not in fast speed). The engine noise is also a bit louder (sound kinda like a cat purring or a low volume lid clanking on a low boiling pot). FYI, just replaced the dead transmission with a used one and replaced the catalytic converter. The mechanic is recommending to replace the engine mount. Is this a necessary replacement (from an operational perspective)?

Altima 2.5L

  • Manual transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Only 60,000 miles on the car and the motor mounts are wore out. This car is babied everyday. And we don't have the money to replace them. I hope the motor falls out so we can sue Nissan. I mean really, Needs motor mounts at 60,000? And if you Google the problem you can see lots of other people have the same. Shouldn't this be a recall?????? I have always been a Nissan fan, but not sure now....
