I just found out that my daughter's car 2008 nissan altima with less than 105,000 miles on it has a bad timing chain that could cause engine failure while she is driving it. needless to say i feel this should be covered by nissan after reading that they were aware of the issue and for monetary reasons ignored the problem. i cannot pay to have it fixed. she has to have a car for college this fall. what am i supposed to do?

Altima SE 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

Since June of 2015 I been hearing a knocking noise when I crank my 2008 Nissan Altima. Once the car gets warm it goes away. Very annoying. I had a mechanic look at it and he said that a lot of the Altima's he has worked on all do the same thing. Obviously this should be a recalled issue.

Also my dashboard is melting. When the sun is bright and reflects off the windshield it creates a glare that makes it impossible to see through the glass. Which is very dangerous. I took it to the dealer they told me to contact headquarters. Headquarters doesn't want to cover they said it is not under warranty. Obviously this is a manufacturer faulty material issue. There are thousands of post regarding this issue.

Nissan has really disappointed and I cant believe that such a large cooperation would ignore these concerns and just brush it under the rug.

I have reported it to Channel 6 News and they said I am not the only one who has complained about this.

I will never buy a Nissan Again.

When cold if you accelerate anything above easy the engine sounds like a mini machine gun that isn't functioning properly.

Ok I purchased this used vehicle recently with 39000 miles I am second owner of car the first owner did all her oil changes and followed the tuneup guide by the book i know she baby this car no problem i but it from a big dealership to avoid having issues with my car i bought used because felt it would be the smart thing to do avoid paying the crazy fees and loosing value on my car as soon as i drove out the lot so recently i hear knocking noise when idling my car or when its cold once it warms up its ok but should i worry also i bought extended warranty but there is a fee of $100 to get anything repaired on my vehicle its been one month am i really liable to pay this and plus when doing a right turn it feels as if one of my trans axle is grinding im sure its the right one should the dealer repair this at no cost to me as well once again i have one month with this car

Altima SL 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 500 miles

I have a brand new 2008 Nissan Altima with 2,500 miles on it. My car makes a knocking / tapping noise when I step on the gas in the cold weather. I also hear a puttering noise (sounds very much like a diesel engine) when the car is idling. I have had the car at Nissan about 10 times at this point. We finally got the mechanic and service manager to admit the noise exists. They changed the heat shield on my car and made some other minor adjustments but the noise is still occurs. They told us that the noise is normal in cold weather conditions and that a fix does not exist for this particular problem. Is anyone else having a similar issue?
