I have 2 2012 Nissan Altima cars that are both peeling paint on hood and roof. Nissan steadfastly refuses to accept responsibility for the issue. I have a collection of pictures of similar issues plaguing similar year Altimas so I know we are not alone. Who else is having this issue? Anyone have success in getting Nissan to cover the repaint?

Altima 2.5 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Complained about it every 3 months and nothing was done. After warranty was expired, I was told to contact the company who gave me a claim number and had dealership to call. Dealership referred me to a place to fix problem, but said I would have to pay for it.

paint flaking off

My car is 3 years old, it's a 2012 Nissan Altima. I have enjoyed driving it until one day I notice my hood chipping, look like chalk marks. Next thing I know the paint is flaking away and I have 2 huge spots on my hood (cost to repaint $700) and trunk (cost to repaint $600). I've been told by 3 repair shops that Nissan didn't sand or prime the body of the car. Which means the rest of the car will eventually do the same :( very disappointing. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs and they said because it's out of warranty there's nothing they will do.

We planned to buy another Nissan, since we'll be giving this one to our son soon to drive, but now after the lack of acknowledgment on a poor paint job from the factory, I'm not sure.
