My son was driving approximately 40 mph when the hood latch failed and the hood flew open. While he was not technically in a crash, the incident caused an estimate $4400 in damages, plus $50 for a new pair of pants. The problem now, other than taking the vehicle to a collision center to be repaired, is who is going to pay for this? I don't see how we should be financially responsible for the repairs when this was a known issue and nobody did anything to fix it. Yes, we can turn it in as a non-comprehensive claim with insurance, but we'll end up paying for it in the end. It's all a bunch of BS!
