Altima S 2.5L 1-4

  • CVT transmission

I've been experiencing problems with the automatic emergency braking (AEB) functionality turning off or giving false positive alerts at random times. It occurs regardless of what the weather or road condition is. There have been technical bulletins issued by Nissan regarding AEB issues with other Nissan models as well such as the Rogue. Dealer reluctant to do anything about it.

Update from Aug 23, 2022: The AEB always turns off when it begins raining. It stays off for a few minutes and then reactivates and continues activating and deactivating at random until it stops raining. It also does it at random times during sunny days but the number of occurrences are much less. My Altima now has over 81,000 miles.

automatic braking system activating at random times

I bought this Nissan Altima on 2/15/2020 and saw the warning message as soon as I drove off the car lot. Took the car back to the dealership and was very worried over my safety. The dealership had me take it to their service department where the are fixing the problem, and gave me a loaner car until mine is fixed. After reading about this problem online and hearing some people have been having their cars start coming to a stop or slowing down because the FEB starts apply the brakes. Nissan is very lucky that no one has been hurt so far.

Nissan should do a recall right away, rather than just set back and do a watch and see what happens thing that they're doing. Things like this to me should not just be ignored by car manufacturers. Someone could be hurt or killed.

Altima SR 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 22,000 miles

I have a new 2018 Nissan Altima SR Special Edition with now 24,000 miles on it that I purchased from Coggin Nissan at the Avenues in Jax, FL. This is actually the second Nissan Altima I've purchased from them and I've experienced issues with. The transmission on the first one I purchased BLEW UP at 13,000 miles. Which led me to the purchase of my current one. This current one is now activating its Automatic Braking System when there are no objects or car in front of it and is causing my car to sometimes stop at random times which is VERY dangerous, especially considering the fact that I have a two year old son that sits in my back seat!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't understand why I'm paying all this money a month and purchasing these cars brand new off the lot, I seem to keep getting sold LEMONS!!!!!! I am tired of my son and I being put into dangerous situations!!!!! I NO LONGER WISH TO BE A NISSAN OWNER ESPECIALLY NOT THE OWNER OF A NISSAN ALTIMA AND I WANT THIS LEMON OFF MY HANDS!!!! There is no fixing this. This is VERY dangerous and could result in death if it happens at the wrong time.
