CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.
For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.
Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

While on a 400 mile round trip visit to family, after stopping for a rest room break, my Honda Accord would not start after engaging the push button starter. After a few more attempts, the push button ignition finally engaged. While visiting out of state, I contacted a Honda dealer there and was told there was no recall on the starter assembly for my 2014 Honda Accord and that dealer wanted $850 to replace the starter assembly. I declined to pay that outrageous price, taking my chances to return home, a 200 mile trip. During that trip, there were multiple instances where, after stopping for either gas or a rest room break, it took multiple attempts to start the vehicle. At one point, after driving through a fast food drive thru, I pulled into a nearby parking lot to park out of the way to eat my food but kept the engine running to ensure I would get back home. After returning home, I made an appointment with a reputable local automobile repair shop and while waiting for a replacement starter to be installed, the repair technician came out to me to show me the faulty starter assembly he had removed from my Accord. The original unit removed from my Accord actually came out of the engine in two pieces. It had separated in the middle of the housing. I asked the technician how had it stayed together while it was in the engine and he said he didn't know. (2 photos attached). At the time of this repair, there were less than 45,000 on this 2014 Honda Accord (thus also on the starter assembly). The repair was made using a generic starter assembly from Napa on 04/22/2021 and I was charged $583.98 total for parts and labor. It's outrageous that such an expensive part didn't last longer than 45,000. I had a 2000 Honda CR-V that I sold with 203,000 mile on it and it still had its original starter. Granted, different type to ignition then..
Whenever I start the vehicle, it makes a grinding noise several times before starting. Took it to the dealership I bought it from and I was told it was the starter and the torque converter. I have changed the starter 4 times in span of 3 years period I have had the car. I have taken it to several mechanic and each of them tell me it's the starter and the flywheel. Took it to the dealer to fix it and told them about the flywheel issue. The tech told me it was a problem known to 2013-2015 Honda Accord. I asked the dealers to agree to fixing the starter and any other issues relating to the starter because they know what the issue is but the refused. I have 2 of my colleagues with the same 2014 Honda Accord with the same issues. The issue started 2 months after purchasing the car in November 2018 at a Honda dealership.
The car has been burning excessive engine oil ever since I purchased it. There is no oil leakage as I have never seen any oil drops where I park it. I have to constantly check the oil level and add more. I bought this car from Honda dealership as pre owned certified. I spoke to Honda dealership once about the issue and they said if the car burns 1 quart of oil in 1000 miles then we consider it excessive oil burning. At the time my car was still under warranty. They just gave me this unrealistic oil burning rate so they don't have to honor the warranty. Now my car is not under warranty and the problem of course persists.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle had an oil consumption failure. The contact took the vehicle to crown Honda greensboro (3633 w. wendover ave, greensboro, nc 27407) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle consumed 2 1/2 quarts of oil per one thousand miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,266.

I bought a 2014 Honda Accord sport brand new the car started burning oil at 55.000 miles this is a well maintain car only change oil at the dealer and have extended warranty, brought it to the dealer, this is my third time the oil is low close to 1000 miles and every time I go to them they charge me for an oil change, so im waiting to see when when I go back this time what they are going to tell me, the problem is /oil consumption,
On my 2014 Accord sport (2.4 L, I4 engine), there appears to be 'excessive oil consumption' since about 50K miles. I have to add about 3/4 quart to 1 quart of oil every 2000-2500 miles. I bought this car new and perform all the maintenance on time at the Honda dealer. I take extremely good care of this car and have never missed a service. It never had this issue before hitting 50K miles. It currently has 77K miles and I just had to add 3/4 quart of oil again after only 2000 miles. I've even replaced the PCV valve with no luck. My question is, why isn't there a recall for this issue similar to the recall related to 2008-2012 Accord" I think many other Honda owners are having the same problem. By the way, I've seen Honda's stance that up to 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles is acceptable, I absolutely disagree.. it's entirely unacceptable for a car with such low miles to burn this much oil. I worry how this car will do as it gets older. At this rate, who's responsible for the catalytic converter when it goes bad due to the oil consumption"
I've a 2014 Honda Accord ex and it burns oil constantly. I always took my car to the dealer for an oil change every since I bought it new until two year 2020 until do my own oil change and realize I burn a quart of oil within a month. So the dealer has change my motor oil all this year without telling me until my warranty is over and I sure they know and hear complained about this issues already they should do a recalled on this car do to safety reason. Thanks,
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking and consumed one quart of engine oil per 1,000 miles. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 15V121000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the VIN was not included. Metro Honda (4918 w highway 74, monroe, nc 28110, (704) 220-1500) was contacted and it was recommended that the vehicle be diagnosed. The contact researched and found information which stated that the engine's short block needed to be replaced, at a cost of approximately $5,000. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.
I have a 2014 Honda Accord 2.4L ex-L with only 40,000 miles. About two months ago, I started experiencing an intermittent starting problem with the push start button. When I depress the brake pedal and push the start button, all of my 'normal' dash lights come on as if I put it in start mode and I hear one click, but the engine does not turn over. While this does not happen all the time, it happens more than it starts on the first try. When this happens, it can take between 2-6 tries before it finally starts. I replaced the battery 6 months ago, but the issue came recently and is still ongoing. I had the alternator and starter both tested by numerous places and both are testing good.
We have an intermittent problem with the car starting. We found an online thread on the subject with workaround tricks. Sometimes putting the car in neutral and starting it from there works, but not consistently. What works most often is turn key one notch, wait 3 seconds, turn again and wait until lights go away, then again and then it starts. What is this issue" is there a recall that can fix this issue"
All 2013-2016 Honda Accord with V6 engines and automatic transmission have a design failure that causes the starter and torque converter to grind intermittently until they fail. This design failure creates an extremely dangerous condition and can lead to the owner stranded. The cost to repair this problem is over $4,000. My failure started within the first 3 years of service with less then 50,000 miles. I've had to pay for 3 new starters and the problem still occurs. An online search show this problem occurs at a very high rate on these vehicles. I believe the problem is the engine and transmission won't align and even after the torque converter is replaced the problem will still occur because of the clearance failure due a manufacturer design issue.
My name is [xxx] and I bought this car Honda Accord 2014, from quest auto sales in sacramento, CA95821 on March 2020.this car don't have good acceleration or pick up speed like it should be.the day I test drive it was ok, but he gave it to me next day.afterwards I kept calling this dealer no answer back.I don't know what is the problem with this car feels like drive and pick up is very poor with very low power.please let me know if you have any idea about the problem, on the highway performance is really poor, will appreciate a lot. 2014 Honda Accord will not start. I press the brake but it's hard to press down. Push start will not go in to start the car. The car has a brand new battery and the computer system was reset. This is the second time I'm experiencing this with my car. The car does nothing no sound. Everything just lock up.
I bought a new Honda Accord 2014. The transmission broke at 47K miles and after it was repaired at nardy Honda it once again broke down at 75K miles. I have an 7 year warranty on the vehicle and nardy mgt. Extended it to 112K miles. Now in April 2020 the vehicle seems to have engine trouble. I have it towed to another dealership to repair vehicle since nardy was totally closed due to the corona virus. Once at huntington Honda, service mechanic shows me some thing happened to the wires on top of the engine by the fire wall. He stated a rodent may have chewed some wires. The service mgt. Stated I would not be covered and was an unbelievable expensive repair bill. They put some kind of rodent proof tape over the area, but didn't extended the tape another 2 feet to cover the entire back area. When I asked why not the mechanic stated that the tape was expensive. Well 2 weeks later the same problem arose a couple inches where the mechanic failed to extend the tape. Service mgt stated that they were sorry but you will not be covered for the same repair which in total was over 1000 dollars when the dealership should of repaired the problem the first time. I also learn that Honda had made theses lines eco friendly from 2010 to 2016 where it attracted rodents. I feel I should be compensated for this very expensive repair.
While driving on a highway vehicle suddenly shook, all lights on dashboard came on, and vehicle stalled. Vehicle towed to midas. Mechanic there informed me that the issue is faulty engine. I bought the vehicle in 2017 and maintain complete upkeep of the vehicle.
5 times one or more spark plugs failed, causing power loss to gasoline engine, slowing car to a stop. Each time, the car was on the freeway (ca-2), utilizing cruise control. Dealer replaced special spark plugs as a waranty issue. Happened 2X in 2015, 1X in 2017, 1X in 2018, 1X in 2020. The car was climbing a slight grade, weather was variable (cool to hot), always on cruise control, speed never exceeding 60 mph.
The car intermittently will not start. All electrical components work, ac works, windows, except the engine doesn't turn over. The engine does not start. Sometimes it starts the first time, other times you are sitting there trying to start for 15, 20 min. The frequency of non- start increases as time goes on. Temperature and time driven do not matter. It's happened in 70 degree weather and in 15 degree weather. It's happened after I've driven for 5 min or 50 min.
