CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2014 Nissan Altima shows multiple problem trends, continuing the poor reputation of the 2013 Altima, prompting us to give it our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The low beam headlights are poor. Nissan install a brand new set of lights and I can't see but 5 feet in front of my car at night. The light illuminated is terrible. The headlight assembly is the problem. They knew it before they took my $130 to replace with lihghts that did me no good. I use high beams mostly.
The regular headlights (not high beams) are so dim that it makes it very difficult to see at night. In low light areas (city streets) I have bumped the curb because I could not see it and when turning in low lit intersections, I am unable to see where the lanes are, making it very difficult to safely turn. I have cleaned the outer part of the headlight and replaced the lights with no improvement.
While driving at night my dim headlights are so dim its as if they are not even on. It doesnt matter if im driving in the city or country its hard and getting harder to see the highway. Ive come close to having an accident several times. Only prevention was switching to high beam to be able to see. So if I end up having an accident due to this somebodys going to be served and spend more money than what they could have by preventing it. This is dangerous. How many people have to go through this" how many accidents were caused by this that resulted in death" we dont know bc they are dead!
Lights are extremely dim. A safety hazard that has been named numerous times online. Nissan is aware and has done nothing to remedy the poor manufacturing.
Low beam lights are extremely dangerous. Cannot see at all. Must use high beam in order to see what is ahead. Had lights replaced twice and doesn't correct the issue.
The headlights are so dim, it is a hazard to drive at night. We replaced the bulbs and restored the lenses but nothing helps. If you search the internet, there are numerous complaints about this problem. You can't see 50' in front of you. These headlights should be recalled and Nissan should be fixing this problem don't wait for someone to get killed in a car accident before something is done please!!
My low beam lights are very dim. I can barely see at night. I have replace the light bulbs and that did not help. I have to constantly drive with high beam on but with incoming traffic I have to go back to low beam and it's like the incoming traffic is blinding me. I can barely drive the car a night due to this issue. It's been an ongoing problem with the lights. They are getting worsened by the day.
Driving at night is very dangerous for me to drive with my kids home I'm a single parent the headlights mainly low beams are very very low you can even till they are on the police pulled me over and made a joke saying I would be better off using two flashlights can you please tell me the problem or help I almost was in a accident with my children in the car is the low beams the highbeams I've had to resort to put a fog lights on my car thank you please respond
The chrome and I had light lamp is burning it is a known issue and there has not been a recall through Nissan there's nothing wrong with that I'd like there's nothing wrong with the bulbs and there is zero visibility at night.
The headlights on low beam put out almost zero light, it is a serious safety issue. There are many threads on the internet and this is is a known issue.
Low beam lights do not work to where you can't see 50 feet in front of you. Replaced the light bulbs and still not any better. Huge safety concern when driving at night
