CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Cobalt inherited most of the problems from the 2005 and 2006 model years, but toned them down (a bit). Sure, the power steering still fails and the car has a chance of going up in flames due to a cracked fuel tank, but it’s not as prevalent as the older models. At least not yet.
In 2012, the Cobalt was recalled for gas tank fires but only for owners in certain states.
Then in 2014, the 2007 Cobalt was part of a massive GM recall due to a defective ignition switch that could cause the airbags to not deploy during an accident. The problem led to 13 deaths, government investigations and multiple class-action lawsuits.

Call back on ignition. Took car in and they kept it for a week to cover 2 call-backs. The ignition was supposed to be changed and new keys. Well one of the keys did not work and they ordered the second key and will call when it comes in.
ONE MAJOR PROBLEM. If the ignition was changed how does my old key still crank my car. I was given one key and had to re-order the other set. My car was moved by someone using the old set to move it up to allow room to get lawnmower out of garage to cut grass. I was not home and with a friend and when I returned I asked how they cranked the car and moved it up. I was told that they used the key on my key rack. I told them that was the old key as the new set was with me. I immediately tried the old key and YES IT LETS ME IN THE CAR AND ALSO FITS IN THE IGNITION AS WELL AS CRANKS THE VEHICLE. OK New Ignition NEW keys and yet the old one works. Was it changed at all?? That is a question I have for GM and the Chevrolet Dealer in Kennesaw that services my car. I am going in as soon as the other set of keys are ready and see what they have to say.
Two call Backs Two Problems and both services I find I still have a problem with my vehicle. And by the way I was not given a rental car at all. I was told that they could get me one but I would have to pay. What is wrong with that.. Chevrolet has given me a bad attitude toward their product and service.
