CarComplaints.com Notes: You should probably steer clear of the 2012 Focus. Otherwise, you might not be able to steer at all.
The 2012 is the first Focus to offer Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). It's also the first year with massive power steering failure. These things are not mutually exclusive.
And while you wait for your steering to disappear, you'll be greeted with a transmission that shudders, vibrates or won't shift at all.

I drive professionally and have logged 1.2 million miles in my 29 years with the same company. Needless to say that is a lot of sitting. This go round the company chose the Ford Focus. No I am not a Ford hater. I currently own my 2nd Escape and we still have a Ranger. The most current and PRESSING problem is the seat that was painful from day one and has become unbearable. The seat is foam and inside is the worst idea I have seen. There is a metal frame in the shape of a big square which raises up on the sides to form the "wings" on the bottom seat. The day I picked it up it was painful to my left leg and hip. The wire is as thick as a pencil and is just barely under the top surface of the foam. Everyone said just get a seat cushion but the problem is I enter and exit the vehicle 25 times and day. Nothing stays in place and everything is too "grippy". I had resorted to using the slick backside of a kitchen mat made of memory foam. Just recently the pain has increased and nerve pain has occurred. I squirmed for 6 hours one day and had enough. I removed the seat cover which was challenging but being past mad helped. I flipped up the lower cushion. Underneath seemed to be the route to take since the top of the foam looked complicated. I took out my trusty pink swiss army knife and began to slowly slice along the wire. I had the medieval torture device removed in 5 mins. I replaced the seat cover and tried it out. Relief ! I want to mail this damned wire frame to Ford and tell them to sit on it !
